Hypothetically speaking, two friends go into a dealership at 9:00 pm when the shop closes at 8:00pm. they do not go inside the actuall building but look at the cars to not be hassled by salespeople... is this legal to do?

Should be as long as there's no gates or anything and you don't break anything. I've waited for people in dealership parking lots before and never got shit for it.

If it is I should be doing 25 to life because thats almost always what I do.

Not illegal.

Can't testdrive right??
You aren't damaging cars. You are fine to check out cars when the dealer is closed.

i hd a cop give me shit for it once. he pulled me over right after i left the lot. he said people had been breaking into cars there and he just stopped me and wanted to know what was up. i didn't get in any trouble for it but he told me i should go during the hours that they were open.

i was thinking it'd be like trespassing or something

^^Not as long as you dont go over a gate or any other type of boundry or sign that says something to the matter of staying out after business hours. Its a public business and your staying outside the building so everything should be OK.

ok say there's one of those swing gates... with a lock but there's a gap on the right and left hand side (to prevent people from driving off with the car)
all hypothetically of course

Those gates are mostly there just to keep people from jacking cars. Its not illegal, but if you feel uncomfortable going at night, most dealerships are closed on Sunday, so go then durring the day.

I would say if its meant to keep the cars from leaving and there is no sign I'd still say its ok if there is a clear gap that you could walk through.

well it just brought me back to my highschool days of doing stupid crazy shit that makes you feel all wierd in the stomach knowing your gonna get in trouble, but unsure if what your doing is wrong

hypothetically of course

I've done that a few times... I don't think it's illegal really.

Just don't make it seem like you're 'scoping' out the cars for boostin em. If possible, keep yourself out where people can see you... like if security or police drove by.

Don't be a tool and try to hide behind a car, cause then you're pretty much hosed.

Even if someone stops your not going to get in trouble unless as previously mentioned you go in when it says not to. They'll just ask you a few questions and then move on or ask you to come back later.

if all entrences have gates its tresspassing because its showing they want noone entering the lot

chances youll get in troubble-slim

but if so much as one gate is left open it cant be tresspassing unless there are posted hours saying to not be on the lot after a certain time.

ok, so yeah they need signs and closed gates.

thanks that link is awesome...

well the reason why i asked this is while hypothetically we were at the dealership (honda) looking at the s2k and the hybrid accord, some idiot was at the acura dealership setting off an alarm on a rsx. security saw us but didn't say anything but then the alarm went off, and the dude (who was driving a 300zx) was doing his damndst to turn off the alarm... wasn't sure if he was just looking or was thinking about taking it for a unscheduled test drive. i just didn't want to get into trouble... no record... looking to keep that.

Underground_Killah

well while racing there's a possiblity you can outrun the cops... or loose them

on foot.... well.. we all have seen cops.. no one on foot ever get's away

i call bull shit. As long as they dont get the choppers involved a little little cross country running with some fence climbing know how and running from cops on foot is easy as pie.

its been done on many occasions. Rent-a-cops are even easier usually.

The reason no one ever gets away on cops is because that would be encouraging people to run from the police thinking they can do the same. So they only show the times when people are caught. I know of people who have ran from the police and gotten away such as my boss in his 325i but will that ever be aired?...no, because that police force looks bad and others may think they can do the same. With the setup they have now they can trick people (such as dreamspawn) into thinking they cant get away so that they dont even try to make a run for it.

Pfbt... I've rehearsed running from the cops many a times in GTA: San Andreas.

It's no biggie, just need me a Balista Compact and an Uzi. And if things get too heated I just pick me up one of those nifty stars to drop my wanted level. Or jump out and blast some fools with a shotty and go into a mall and change your clothes.

Why you guys stressing?

fool, but when you kill thoes cops make sure there arent any other cops that saw you or you will get 2 stars instead of one. then you will need to enter in the code up down left right up down left right l1 l2 r1 r1 to get a jet pack and fly the phuck out of dur into your safe house where you can change clothes mang.

otherwise just blast all dem fools and get like 4 stars, shit, dont worry because ive yetto manage 6 stars so they will never come full force mang.

anyway, maybe its just lake shitty cops and rent a cops in the Orange Park country club, but it aint hard.

Thats weird because I was at the Dodge dealer a few years ago. I was inside a garage that had a couple Vipers in it. This guy drove up and yelled at us. But we were just taking pictures, but since it was inside a building with a door that is usually closed, its trespassing I guess. It didnt help that I was wearing biking gloves so it probably really looked like I was trying to steal it:grinyes: But the guy was cool and let us sit in the car and eveything.
