So they give you a oil plug seal to block the hole off you see in the 1st pic sitting next to the reguler seal, i did not like the idea of it just pushed in sitting there. So Kevin gave me the idea to make a plate to hold it in and here is what i came up with in the 2nd pic. This was a piece of stainless steel plate. For the ones in the future removing your balance shafts, this works really nice without making a mess with JB WELD. Thanx alot Kevin

Very nice... Is the plate flat or does it have the center bumped up on it? I can't tell. lol

The center actually bumps in a little. I pre fit it with the bolts in place and then took a plastic hammer and hit the plate in!!!! to form the round surface (indent a little). You could use a few washers to build up past the seal but i did not want to. Thats why i made the plate indent.

Cool... So when we remove the balance shafts all it does it give you a little plug to put in there? Does it come out fairly easy without the plate?

It may stay in but i think it will come out fairly easy, it does not take alot of force to put that plug seal in there. I just do not like the idea of that seal sitting there with nothing holding it in.

Oh also some of the balance shaft removal kits come with a frost plug instead of the seal. You need to use JB weld on them ones to stay in and seal them up better, i would stay away from them ones IMO. Also make sure you get the kits that have the groove in the shaft for oil!!! some kits do not come with that groove in the shaft to replace the balance shaft bolted to the oil pump. I can post a pic tomarrow if you do not know what im talking about?

Yeah I donno which groove your talking about. lol I definetly wouldn't trust that little plug to stay in there either.
Did you get your balance shaft removal kit on ebay?
