Tow Haul Problem

2001 Sierra- Automatic.... About a month ago- went to tow a trailer and tow haul wouldn't come on. Kept pressing the button and it finally did. Now tow haul comes on automatically everytime I shift -reverse/drive - it doesn't matter. Was able to turn it off once engaged. Now- even after i've shifted into drive and turned it off, it comes back on automatically and I can only turn it off randomly. I can't seem to figure out what is going on. Any ideas? Thanks.

You probably have a broken or almost broken wire at the base of the shift lever, might be grounding out or something.

Mine was a broken wire in the steering column...two screws to drop the bottom cover off...orange wire if memory serves...put on a piece of shrink tube...soldered the wire...shrunk the tube...buttoned it back up...

Look for wire problem right at the base of the shift lever.
