Clutch

Last year I had a new clutch installed, just a stocker, and I was never satisfied with the job they did. There was a squeeking noise since the moment I brought it in and of course any time I would return to show them, it would stop doing it. Well its a year later now and the thing is now to the point that I can't ignore it. There is only a noise when the clutch is engaged. As soon as you push in the clutch it stops. It just started actually vibrating the clutch pedal inside the car. To be honest I don't think it is even the clutch, I think its the release bearing. To make a long story short I am buying all the new parts and doing it myself. I ordered a centerforce clutch kit (even though I don't think that the pressure plate is at fault) and a new throw out bearing and pilot bearing. Also, I was going to get a new flywheel but apparently on the windsor made 4.6s (which I have) there 2 different cranks used, a 6 bolt and an 8 bolt. Unfortunately there is no way to tell which one is in there without looking at it directly, therefore I will have to wait to take it apart than decide weather or not I want a new flywheel, than order after its already apart. Anyway just thought this could be interesting to someone.

honeslty i hate my centerforce, it takes a beating, but spec clutches hold better and they feel more like the stock.

What is the difference between the different stages of clutches? I know they are stronger, but on a stock vehicle, would there be any reason in upgrading from 1 to 2 or so-on? Also, does anyone know anything about these Gripforce F1 clutches? Seen em on Ebay.

stg 2 wont hurt; if your running all the bolt-ons, longtubes, gears, etc stage 2 wouldnt be a bad choice...specs are great clutches

you are right, it is the T/O bearing. mine does it to but it doesnt bother me, im just waiting for the entire thing to go before i fix it. i think its a good idea to get a aftermarket T/O bearing as ive heard this noise is pretty comon with stock mustang clutches.

I haven't been able to find an aftermarket throw out bearing, I just got the one for the correct year off of 50 resto

dont clutch kits come with T/O bearings? so if you bought an aftermarket clutch wouldnt one come with it?

I think that basic stock clutches come with one but not all kits come with them. My kit didn't.

well youll probably be fine with the T/O bearing you got. besides from what ive heard spec T/O bearings suck too. i have no clue about centerforce though

Does a spec st.2 grap any better or help of the line more than a st.1?
