i have a 2000 gls 2.0 with 116K miles ... couple months ago my dash board "brake" light turned on and it hasnt turned off since! it just beeps as long as the car is moving to warn me that my e-brake is engaged, but its not. the brake pads are new, the brake fluid is filled ... the switch beneath the e-brake lever was changed and the problem still exist ... the problem is also causing the fuse that controls the heated seats, cruise control, heated mirrors, and the daytime running lamps to blow ... has anyone heard of this problem i am deperate to stop the beeping in my car!

try replacing the brake light switch.

also you need to have the codes read for the brake system.

after ripping apart the dash board and disconnecting all the systems that are controlled by the single fuse which is F5, it apears that the short is being cause by the e-brake to the daytime running lamps ... when the relay which turns on the headlights after disengaging the e-brake was pulled out, the fuse didnt blow out and all the other systems worked fine ... i still dont know exactly where the short is because the relay itself is in working order ...

i just dont have daytime running lights anymore and i dont have a warning light that says the e-brake is engaged ...

there is a brake light switch on the brake pedal, thats the one I am talking about.

As for the short, cant help you there, you just need to test wires according to wiring diagram. Also I have seen instrument cluters cause short in light system because the cluster actually controls some light systems.
