replacing clutch, help please.

hi guys..

l just picked up a 94 corolla and the clutch is different than other cars..

l have to let the clutch off all the way then the car moves suddenly..ur car's are the same or my clutch is goin bad?

why it is like that?

also if l need to replace the clutch, can l replace by mysefl?

Some clutch disks are asbestos free and therefore grab. They can take a little getting use to.

replaced clutch on my 96 rolla and took me about 8hrs. Also replaced axle seals and rear main seal.

My clutch was slipping and just all arround weak. Replaced it with an Exceedy clutch kit I bought on ebay for 112 shipped. Never had a problem yet, accept my shifter bushings which i am replacing this week so the trans doesnt grind.

how much would be clutch kit and what should l do? also which kind of tools do l need?

I wouldn't rush to replace it if its not slipping. It's a hydraulic clutch so you should first check for leaks and make sure the master cylinder is full of fluid. If its not you should top it up and bleed it. How to bleed it can be found at;

It could be though that maybe after you've driven it for a week or so you'll just get used to it.

If you need to replace the clutch you can do it yourself if;
- you have a good place to work
- you have proper tools including jack stands and a hydraulic jack
- you have lots of time
- you have a Haynes manual or a shop manual. Important for torque specs etc.
- an assistant would also help for pushing, lifting, holding, aligning, tightening etc. and of course giving you advice whether you want it or not.
