more starting woes

Alright I hate to ask pretty much the same question twice in a week, but I'd like some more advice before asking my dealship. If you didn't see my earlier thread, my problem is that the engine will not crank after battery replacement. When the ignition key is turned, the headlights turn off(interior lights/radio stay on), and there is a click sound(sounds like a circuit breaker...), and thats the end of my hopes of hearing that LT1 rumble. I have tried/checked
-fuses
-battery connections
-wires going to solenoid/starter
-spare keys
-pushing the car to manually turn engine
This had led me to believe that this POS VATS system is cramping my style..even though it contradicts what my manual says(there is no security light and the light doesnt go away after 3 mins...cus it isn't there). I'm thinking about bypassing this thing..if anyone has a site that tells how to do it or has done it I would be appreciative of help. Also, I'm thinking about running a wire from the battery right to the starter..just to see if it works, is this a good/bad idea?
Thanks for any help guys :frown:

hit the starter with a hammer then try to start it to see if it is the starter, but it sounds like the vats, i would by pass it.

lol I'm not a hammer-fixer kinda guy. I forgot to mention that we used a battery from a truck to start the car before putting the new battery in, so I'm thinking that...maybe just MAYBE there was a difference in amperage or something weird that ...hell I don't know what I'm talking about, I hate electronics in cars.

i do not mean hit the starter every time u want to start it, i mean hit it once and see if it starts, if it does it means your starter is going bad.

There's somebody over in the problem diagnosis section with the same thing, dicsonnected the battery for something and now it won't do anything. Maybe you two should put you heads together, maybe what one of you sees the other is missing :dunno:
I suggested to them that maybe there's some sort of reset procedure?

take cav seriously. I know it sound funny but give the hammer idea a shot. Just give it a firm hit a few times. Dont smash it.
Its kinda like trying to start up an old refridgerator that hasnt run in a while.

Thanks for the posts guys, I'm giving up and towing it to a mechanic. I'm not very happy that my car is mucked up after a simple battery change though :(
