I built a 34 Ford and installed a 700R4 from a 1986 Chev. The shift from first to second gear is really harsh. You can't go without chirping the rear tires. Is there an adjustment for this or a way to just make it start off in second gear? I have a 3.73 rear end so I know this is part of the problem, but this thing will snap your neck. :banghead:

YEs you adjust the throttle valve cable at the carb/tb. About a couple of inches into the cable there is a small housing with a tab in it, you push the tab in then slid the cable all the way back (away from the carb/tb) release the tab thenopen the throttle slowly to WOT. thee cable should then slide and adjust itself. If it's an older cable, you may have to manually move it into position, normally one postion at a time. The further away towards from the carb/tb, the harder the shift, the closer, the softer.
