front end/brakes/tie rod end?

Hi. I have a 1993 ford escort lx wagon (1.9l). when I step on the brakes I feel/hear a hesitation/vibration in the front drivers side wheel. I just got new tires. I was planning to get my rotors cut and install new brake pads myself. I am not sure if it is the brake pads though. It could be a tie rod-end perhaps. Any info plus advice on the repair of both would be great. I have never done either repairs myself but i am handy. Looking to save money. Thanks!

Both of these jobs are pretty simple, I would suggest getting a Haynes or Chilton manual. This will be the best $15 you'll ever spend. If it's been a while since you've had your brakes replaced. I would suggest replacing the rotors, pads, and hardware instead of having them turned. Your brakes depend on the thickness in order to disipate the heat. Turning the rotors actually thins the rotor and can and will eventually cause it to warp faster. Plus the cost of new rotors for a 93 escort are less than $20 at advance auto.

I would agree with the suggestion to replace the rotors insted of having them turned. I had my rotors turned down, and it only took about 5000 miles for them to start feeling bad again. And it cost $30 just to have the 2 rotors turned.
