Guages gone nuts - Please Help!

Hi,
On my 2.2 (Petrol) Rodeo the guages sometimes fail to work (Rev counter, temp,Speedo, fuel).
The only way to get them working seems to be to push (hard) on the odometer trip reset button!
I've tried out the instrument cluster on my other Rodeo (2.2. Diesel) and it works fine - All the time!
Is it possible for a bad earth to the instrument cluster to cause this?
Anyone else had this problem??

Thanks in advance .....

Oh ... its a 1999 model with electronic speedo.

It sounds like it is a loose or corroded ground connection. If you have a Haynes manual, you may be able to find out where all of those gauges are grounded and check that connection.

i'd have to agree...

check for a loose connection in the wire harnesses.
