Im looking at buying a '95 318i. its styling is great and looks like a very nice car. i would however like to increase the horsepower being put out now at a lackluster 134hp. what would be some nice modifications to this car to increase the horsepower. Also are there any reliability issues and/or problems, like suspension wear and tear items, that i should have checked out before making any final decisions on the car. ps. i plan on test driving the car within the next couple days so i should have more information.

Can't help with performance however there are cold air intakes and so forth you can get so I am sure you can do something there. What to look for... my son has a 96 318i w/ a 1.9 motor. Things I would check beyond the obvious (tires leaks etc.) would be to be sure the heating/ac system is working as it should, and see if any lights are stuck on, such as oil change light, airbag light and so forth. Be sure these are not stuck on, can be problems. We have had issues with theses so far. Takes special tools to reset oil change lights and airbag lights, cost about 150-170 bucks for both. His airbag light just got stuck yesterday, so I am learning about this as I go, but common problems for them. Nice cars, my son loves his, but are a little strange to work on at times. Try to get all records of the car's maintenance if possible.
