OK Guys As u know Gotian and Musashi are doing it too. but My Buddy is car hunting so i deside to join in on it...
The all New 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L.
On Arrival to the dealer:
Well as we showed up at the Dealer the salesman was Really Cool. my Buddy DarkLancer Took off running when he saw the New Evo 9. So My other Buddy (his name is Hoo)and The wifey decide to look for something in Hoo's Price range and we ran into the Eclipse. Starting MSRP is roughly $20,000. I asked the sales man where the V-6 version was the guy told me the olny v-6 the had was inside the showroom so we were cool on testing the i-4 model
First Glance:
It a Smooth Looking Car. I expected a Really Horrible drive compared to my Old 97 Dsm. but one thing is for sure. the car has and I quote my GF "Its Got a really Big bubble Butt like a hooker". under the hood the 2.4L 4-cylinder is well organized and over all upon getting into it my pespective changed.
Interior:
The Gauge cluster is Clean and crisp. the Speedo gives u and Digital readout in KM/h, and MPh is still the good old needle. the steering wheel is very nice to grip and the Seats are really comfy, but they also hold u in real snug. and the rear seat is nearly non-existant. as in all eclipses.
The Ride:
The Damn things Purs Like a kitty until you mash the gas (especially when u are using the tiptronic on that bastard!) then it sounds like a true sporty compact. Not Ricey at all, it sounds very mean...the car Was an auto because Hoo doesnt know how to drive a stick car yet. but the tiptronic is Very Good compared to the Previous cars I have tested with tiptronic (RX-8, Is300)Also the Eclipse can break tration really easy without u even trying.Overall the car is one of the smoothest ride you'll ever get.
Pros:
Sounds Good, rides nice, and really puts out when slam the gas and a Doll around a bend or curves
Cons:
well....erm......If you Like Big Butts and you cannot lie,and you other brothers cant deny. this is your car
verdict:
I thought the car was gonna be a Sack of overrated hype but i was proven wrong. its pretty sweet and i reccomend as at least one car that you guys gotta test out this year.

i am actually a big fan of the 4th gen eclipse. if the 2nd gen was to evolve into a more up to date model, it would look like this. the interior has a few interesting touches, and the headlights are very detailed. but yeah its a sick car.

I like this car but I'm still a closer fan to the mid 90's dsm's. I've heard the V6 gets real bad gas mileage too. I agree with Gotian, this sounds like a better car than I made it out to be. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Build it, and they will come:

ok, this is how it SHOULD have been. Screw the v6, this should be the GT (2006 GSX!) And the styling actually makes the ass end seem balenced out. I LIKE IT

Test drove both the four and six bangers, neither one impressed me all that much, and I pretty much saw it as the sack of overrated hype that most people say it is. The look is meh, power is blah at best, and you get wheelspin off the line not from the power, but the fact that is front wheel drive when you floor it all the wieght goes back off the wheels.
The Japanese sports market is going down the shitter with their lines. The best offerings of Japanese sport cars that we get in the states (I don't give two fucks about what they get in Japan, we don't live there, we don't get them, argument done) are four door grocerry getters. What happened to the Supras and RX-7s and 300ZXs? I mean, I know what happened, horrible marketing happened, but still. The best we can get is a bunch of mid 14 second uninspiring kid cars. I have that R&T or MT issue that talks about all the new Japanese Sports cars, and hopefully we will get some of them.
Anyways, this Friday I'm slated to test a 6.0 GTO, one of the new IS's, a G35 6MT Coupe, an M45 Sport, and possibly a FX45 tonight. I'll tell ya'll what I think, but I doubt that, other than the G35 and GTO, it will be pretty.
Oh, and that Raliart Eclipse is old news. From my understanding, thats all its gonna be: news. Nothing more than a concept to show that Mitsu still has it in them to build a bad ass car...they just wont becuase they cant afford it.

i like the eclipses less and less each year they introduce a new one. 1st gen was my fav, second gen had a sort of feminine look to it, but more than enough performance(gsx and gst models) to let me get over it, the 3rd gen i hate(sorry to anyone who owns one), mostly cuz they ditched the 4g63 for a very bland V6. and i think the 4th gen is ugly, too heavy, and it's really poor on gas. IMO they just keep moving further and further away from what the eclipse was when it was most succesful.

:werd: I think the 4th gen isnt that bad looking but otherwise you hit the nail on the head.

if they, made the engine like that, there idiots, and they've been known to be idiots before, hence 3rd gen (no offense, just not a 1st gen or second)
anyone know bout the compression??

I'd get a V6 Mustang before an I4 Eclipse. It's about the same weigh and price, but it's got a lot more power, a useable back seat and RWD.
