I was wondering how often the SES lights go out....... if its just a burnt bulb, fuse, etc....... the reason is because when i start my 1997 blazer up the SES light does not show up ( is this normal )....... all the other lights show up (brakes, check gauges, air bag, etc.)...... my car is a 1997 blazer 4x4, 144K mi, auto trans...... please help

yeah, it is suppose to come on before engine start and then goes out a few seconds after start up. dont think it would be a fuse or the others would be out too. just the bulb i reckon. bulbs are bulbs you never know when one will go out. replace it and it should be fine. if it still doesnt come on after change youll probably need to trace the wiring looking for a bad wire.

Did it ever work for you ? some people will remove or burn them out when selling a truck to hide the fact that the SES is on and truck needs service.
