What got you into car's or the automotivefield in general?
A certain car, family member, magazine, rare occurance or in my case ~ My mother reading C&D when she was pregnant...
Well I grew up with a Red Ferrari testarossa match box car in my right hand. They say it's because my mom read Car an driver when she was pregnant an it went to my head but who knows. I always loved sports cars but not that much until I was about 10 when I saw the dodge Viper GTS... I fell in love with that car, I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I started to fade back out in middle school but then I was flipping through the dupont Registry for shit's an giggles when a Flipped up door with 3 vents caught my eye. I was thinking WOAH! What the hell is that it looks amazing! After 6 months of researching I found out it was a Saleen S7! 2 Months went by an I went to the Jacob Javitz centre autoshow. I walk in an the first car staring right at me is the S7! WOW I don't think I've ever taken so many pictures in my life. After that I tryed to find out about everysingle supercars I could get my teeth into from Fioravanti to Molser to Venturi an all the way to the old school EB110 I've tryed to learn them all. Then about 3 years ago I got heavy into Imports because I knew i wasn't able to get a supercar as my first car (Having a 94 ford windstar an being the schools #1 Car enthusiast really doesnt sit right) So from there I started looking around I was on a flight to the bahamas an I had a nice automag in my lap as we were loading an sat down I opened it, the first car I saw was this "Bayside" Blue coupe with these nice 6 spoke ray's (hint) rims. I did some research on the car an it turned out to be a nissan skyline R34 GTR. I looked up the base but it was still way out of my league because of import duties an legality. After that I started learning an getting heavy into legality an such an I met my R.I who has/had the 650 rwhp R33 GTs - T with the RB26 swap. That's when I really got into hardcore performance. I got into really lightweight car's an that's what led me to this point... The FD3S aka 3rd Gen Rx7. A twin turbo Bi-rotor 255 hp badass with an amazing curb weight of 2650.
Still looking an so the story continues...

Wow, with me it had to be two things.
One being games. I finally got out of my ignorance stage and started to really indulge in them with my friends.
And two, the Toyota Supra. There was just SOMETHING about that car that attracted me along side the learning process. I generally like all cars, more some than others. But it was really the Supra that "popped" it for me.
No turning back now, that's for sure!!!

wow to tell you the truth ive been in love with cars since i was a really young kid. My dad says that when i was young i use to love naming cars. Like i would see a car from far away, i would know the make and model. I was in love mostly with the Viper then the mustang. Now i guess that feeling for cars has died out a bit.

What got me into cars..? Honestly it was a mix of my friend and my car..
Basicly when I got my Camaro, I loved it, I mean it had that "I must have you" hold on me when I saw it, so it became my christmas present. Well little did I know that the car had a LOAD of problems in the future for me, which consisted of an ignition coil, FULL tuneup, replacing the radiator, and a few things here and there. Because it had so many problems, I was constantly trying to figure out how to fix em, basicly it also lead me to find AF, and while reading Hot Rod everyday in school helped out in pushing foward my love for cars. Also another thing that lead me into cars was my dad (Not biological one, long story..) HE had a 78 Camaro, that he always used to take to the drag races, so because we were kinda poor back then, all I would do is play with auto parts, mainly carburators and also I would try to learn anything I could when I was next to him. So yeah..

i can honestly say, i have no clue.
i'd always been into cars in general, types and all but what really threw me into the whole car scene thing, i can not recall. i think it was based off of my love for photogrphy and then reading super street, just for the pictures ;), and from there i decided to actually read the article and got more and more mags and found friends etc and thus my the life begin.

I don't know what did, I've just always loved cars. A big part probably had to do with constantly getting Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars before I could speak. The Ferrari Testarossa a neighbor got when I was 3 or 4. I was hooked on Ferrari from that moment on.

Family. My dad's family has been intertwined with the auto industry for a long time. We've got a picture of my grandfather with a Ford Model-T when he was 5 or so. When he was in his early 20's he moved to Michigan and started working for GM and worked there for a long time. My uncle has worked at GM since he was in high school (hes about 55 now), and he has owned various Corvettes throughout his life (C5 Z06 right now). My dad's first car was a Light Blue 69' Mustang Mach I. He paid his way through college and grad school by working on the assembly line. When I was younger I always loved cars and had all the toys and the Lambo Countach poster. In college I didn't have the time or the money to be really into cars, but once I got out and had some money to play with I fell back in love. Getting my M3 and joining AF have only fortified my love.

pretty long story.......so i'll just steal it from a thread from a while back
it all started when i was little, i used to walk to school and everyday i saw this ferrari (didn't know what car it was at that time) but i knew it was fast because of the typical low swoopy car with a lot of gauges inside and stuff. ( can't remember but i think it was a testarossa or 348 tb). got into cars a little bit, just little things like i stated learning cars' names and stuff like that and when i got older i got more into exotics cos my neighbor drove an elise (one of the reasons i'm a huge lotus fan) and this guy down the street from my school drove a green murcielago and i turned into one of those kids who think they know everything when they dont know sh*t.
muscle cars
when i got into middle school i met this guy who was into muscle cars (a lot) he seriously wouldn't shut the fuck up about them and pretty soon i got hooked too (he flamed me all the time cos i also love mustangs). i first started learning about camaro's since that was the only muscle car he knew and loved (ford hater) pretty soon i got bored so i didn't learn that much. i still buy a hot rod magazine once in a while and i'm trying to larn a little bit more about domestics
lowriders
don't really know how i got into them but i just liked to see cars jump but after some time i figured out that the whole thing wasn't for me and i was pretty pissed since i had spent a lot of money on lowrider mags.
japs
not so proud of this but the fast and the furious and 2f2f actually got me into import cars, i turned into a ricer really fast (they call me the repented ricer). never got a subscription to an import car magazine mostly because i didn't know what the fuck they were talking about and i think pimp my ride added to my riceiness (created a new word woot!!!!!). i got over the rice when i started wondering about all the technical stuff in the movies like what was coming out of the skyline's bumper (yeah i know it was nitrous purge) and soon ebough i was wondering about how other technical stuff like how an engine works, how a rotary engine works, how a turbo works and stuff like that and a few months after i found AF on the internet and joined. still have a lot to learn about imports but that doesn't mean i can't make somebody look stupid when it comes to them ( i love doing that to ricers). Right now i'm just looking for a specific brand to learn about since it's kinda hard trying to learn about every single one.
motorbikes
i've been into motorbikes since i was born like i used to pretend that i was revving an engine when i was on my bike or i put a soda can under my bike's fender to make it sound like an engine ( now that i think about it, it sounded more like a fart can). but never got into it until this movie, not too proud to say it but it started when i saw biker boyz i got seriously obsessed. i was into stunts and all that stuff but a few issues of sport rider set me straight. But now sadly i've put my bike dream on hold, maybe in a few years you riders should watch out for a squid ridin like a dumbass on either daytona 675 or a sv650s

i was never interested in cars before but as soon as i got my own, i became very interested in how to maintain it, how to upgrade it, how it works, etc.

Matchbox and Hotwheels when I was a kid. My 2 best were the Black Porsche 911 and the Red Corvette Stingray (both with the gold wheels). And I still have them! I've always loved cars, especially small foreign cars, for as long as I can remember. In fact, I'm most content when I'm moving in an automobile.

i was always interested in cars but didnt really start getting into them until about 17 or 18 when i got my 240sx. I always had admiration for all the badass cars on the road (supras vipers ect ect) but i had never really looked into doing things to my own car until i started getting onto forums and reading about what people where doing to the 240. so i guess what got me into it was liking to drive my 240 and then car forums helping me realize what i can do

When I first got into cars as a kid was when my Dad brought home an issue of Road and Track with the Doge Viper on the cover (this is about ten years ago when I was just a wee lad). For a while after that I would read/look at pictures in R&T and other books/mags alot and stuff. But that faded after a while.
More recently (2003?), with the prospect of getting my liscence, I began to resurect my interest in cars a little more. I saw what I think was a 1974 Camaro for sale near my house, browsed for that car or other classic muscle cars on the internet, and the rest was history.
Oh yeah and then I found AF somewhere along the line, but that's not really important.

When I was a little kid, I knew nothing about cars. It was the day that my dad's friend let me sit in his Acura NSX. He was in the city for a week (he lives in the next Province over) and he stopped by. I can barely remember the car, all I remember was how cool the black paint looked and all the guages he had in his car. It was like sitting in a space ship haha. Since then, I was collecting all sorts of NSX toys and RCs. Then good 'ol Gran Turismo came out. I first played the demo, but never really cared for it. I didn't really know too much of the cars then, all I knew was the NSX. Gran Turismo 2 was released and I got really into the game. I started exploring other cars and started developing a love for all of them. I even started naming off every car I saw on the street as a habit. Although I'm not too much a fan of domestic cars (especially classics), I can still appreciate every single car ever made. Even the Metro Geo, that thing saves me gas on my deliveries :)

My dad actually because I'd watch him do simple tune-ups to his car. I'd ask questions that just made me feel like cars are for me.
And also i played with Hot Wheels when i was younger.

my dad, among other things, got me into cars, he always watched his formula one races, i'd enjoy watching them to. i also always had hot wheels and the sort and built plenty of cars out of lego. then the fast and the furious came around and i wanted to know how all that stuff worked, did some searching, found this sight, and found out that it was all bs. that's about it.

lots of things
1 my brother ( an auto tech himself)
2 games( grand turismo mostly)
3 my car
since i got my first car ive wanted it to go faster i had an 84 camaro 350 for a while, and i got tired of winning, and i knocked the front end off at the firewall care of wet conditions and bald tires. i dont claim the car as mine since it was a junkyard car. but after that i got into tuning 4 cylinders. mostly because its more fun to blow someone away that has you in displacement by 3 liters... or more. just the over all feeling of power that is greater then you, and you have control. i think thats a major player.

It just... happened. I'd like to believe it wasn't F&F, but I grew out of that and got into the idea of a sleeper car, and just haven't stopped since. If I see a certain car, I could think of a million and one things that I could do to make it my own, without the stickers. ;) Cars are a passion of mine. It may have started when I read the Car and Driver magazines our school had a subscription to. I would read the same magazine about 3 times just because there weren't any others that would grab my attention
