1986 Check Enging

My 86 325E has the check engine light blinking on the dash at all times. It does it in a constant fashion, not stopping for a second between any, thus I can't get any codes out of it. I checked the PIN connnector at the DME for all the inputs and they were all within factory specs. Has anyone heard of this before? Is the DME itself a possiblity?:flash:
