My '92 APV 3.1 after sitting overnight, won't start unless neg batt cable is disconnected for a while. Any insight would be helpful.

Welcome to the forums Jack. By "don't start", do you mean it turns over but doesn't start, or it acts like a dead battery? Do you have a volt meter, so you can check battery voltage when the van won't start?

Thanks for the welcome, and the fast reply rich.

Fully charged batt, cranks fine.

If it sits overnight, will crank fine, no start. Seems to be a computer/sensor problem.

Runs/starts fine after neg batt terminal disconnected for several minutes.

Commercial refrigeration contractor here, so have basic sensor/computer skills, however not auto.

Fluke 87V, etc. handy.

has your check engine light ever came on, and if so, have you pulled the codes? Do you hear the fuel pump kick on to prime the system when you turn the key on when it doesn't start?

No check engine light.

Fuel pump primes every time.

Your van is a little different than the Lumina cars, in that it still has a distributor and throttle body injection, where the Lumina cars have distributorless ignition and multiport injection. Do you have spark when the van doesn't start? Can you see the initial spray of fuel from the TBI unit when you turn the van over when it won't start?
