'92 lesabre no start, no fire

I have a '92 lesabre I bought this weekend from an auction. They thought it might be the computer, I put in anther one from a recently wrecked '93 and still no spark. I changed out the ignition module and coils, still no spark. There was some paper work in the car and it looks like the crank senor was replaced back in july '05. The auction had the keys cut for it, if the key is good does it should activate the starter right? The engine turns over nice, I have power to the ignition module. I checked the codes but nothing has been stored. After reading through the forum, it sounds to me that the crank sensor is bad again? I still don't have any fire. Guide me in the right direction PLEASE!

I think you are going in the right direction! The crank sensor would be the next logical step. If you have a scanner, check to see if it will read RPM while cranking.

I don't have a scanner, I looked at the crank sensor and it looks brand new! the previous owner had it replaced at merchants tire, like i said before in july '05. Is it possible this sensor is bad? Also, when tring to start the car, the security light is on, as is the service engine light, but the security light dissappears while cranking.

Yes , the key that works the starter has a chip. Like I said before it turns over fine. I just put a new crank sensor and STILL NO SPARK. I think it's time for the BFH. I usually don't on american cars just for the fact that you can never find out a FOR SURE CURE, you to bascially go through everything.

Take the key to a "DEALER" only and have a brand new key made. chances are the small chi in your key is preventing the engine ignition from creating spark, its a complicated process believe me, but that should take care of the issue.

I thought that if the chip in the key was bad that the starter would not engage, and disable the fuel. The engine turns over great, I get power to the icm but still no spark. Does the key have anything to do with cutting out the ignition signal?:banghead:

Vats kills the starter and fuel enable circuit. Check the signal from the cps to the icm possible wiring problem here, again a scanner will tell you if the cps is generating an rpm signal, maybe you can borrow one?

You don't know which wire on the icm receives the signal do you? I just had both of the icm's checked and both are good.

Also, the serpentine belt dosn't have to be on to get an ignition signal does it?

I got it running!!!!!!!! The harness plug for the icm is the fault, I had to leave the ignition on and go wiggle the plug and I could hear some sensors or injector clicking, and I went back to start it and it fired right up. It was missing on 1 cyclinder and had to replace that coil. Runs bbeautiful, 170,000 miles. Thanks for the help everyone. sianara

Good work plus you learned something in the process, multiple new parts do not fix cars.

I think it may be a ground at fault. If I put the plug all the way in it will not start up, I have to leave the ignition on and go mess with the plug until I hear something like an injector making a noise or something like the clutch on the air cond. compressor, and the plug it kind of pushed in at an angle, And then it will start right up and run fine until you turn it off, then you have to play with the plug again. Is there a ground for the wiring harness on the engine? It's kind of late and I did not think to look until now.:frown: I thought it was cured.
