I'm starting to put together ideas for car graphics to be made as decals. I have loads of designs and ideas already, but i would like to hear all your suggestions too. Please post any pics of cool looking cars you've found and let me know what logo's would be good and what colours you would like to see.
Thanks
Thanks

You will create this decals FOTW?
That's a doubt I have in mind for quite some time.I know that is possible for us to create our own decals, but where can I get the paper to print them? And can I use a standard 600 our 1200 dpi colour printer?
I don't know about the quality of this "home made" decals, but it would be great do create new colour schemes and pilot versions or tobacco publicity that don't came with the models.
It would be great also to have a backup of decals from various models in a way that if someone is building a model and ruin the decal I can send him a copy of my decals so he can print them and apply them in the model.

I dont know much about home made decals but to get really good results you will need an ALPS printer which uses a different printing method to inkjets and laser printers. You can also print loads of different colours with them including silver, gold and white.
The decals that I am talking about will be proper silk screen printed decals done profesionally for me. I shall probably do a range with stripes, tears, racing and tuning logos and perhaps hood decals too.
What y'all think???

I think that's a great idea. I like to see custom paints and decals on tuned vehicles.
For sure you should go for hood decals to use in the interiors. How much will cost you?
I was surfing to find information and prices of ALPS printers and I found this:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/282737inkjet.jpg
This way we can use a normal inkjet printer and then apply a krylon acrylic crystal clear high gloss spray for the final touch.
I will probably try this one first, it may be enough for I to create my Marlboro and West decals.
Eventually later I will go for a ALPS printer for more complex and detailed motives.

I guess you could go for all the company after-markets, ex. Mugen, TRD, Nizmo, etc., etc. Eibach, Bomex, Veilside, will all look good!!! Also, to promote your site, make "Scale Auto Style" ones!!;)

I just printed a sheet of Letter size decal last week at a copying center. Chris, if you want the file for it, I'm can email it to you. It's about 7-8MB big in jpg format.
The tuner logos on my civic are from this decal sheet~
So PM me if you want the file:)
Edit: BTW, how about some Spoon S2000 decals for Jay and I, hahaha~ Yes I'm dreaming.

Boy, this is an old thread!:D
But thanks for resurecting it guy's, i've not been able to find the time to put into the design of the decal sheets - hopefully i can soon. I want to make them very comprehensive, i have listed over 70 sponser logos and hope i can include them all. That would mean with at least two of each logo and with some duplicated in different sizes for variation, there could be around 200-250 decals on one sheet  . My original thought was to also include a graphic on each sheet - wether it be a stripe, tear or tribal marking etc but i may have to do these seperate and perhaps sell them individually or together with the logo's.
I'm also planning to have some Carbon Fiber decals done too!

Chris,
Got to add my little bit here.....
How about logos for things like Sparco, Recaro and OMP seats to fit the seats? Then when you take them out the parts box you are able to slap a logo on them before setting them in the car....
Another possible....Rally sponsor logos, you know those sponsors you see plastered all over various WRC cars. You could make a decal sheet with various sponsor logos so when we build our own rally cars we can add all sorts of sponsor logos(the guys building ricers could use them too I guess:D )

Just something I drew up a while ago, don't mind the car, just the side stuff. I know its a little complicated, but would look awesome on the right car.

I think i've accounted for most of the logos associated with rally cars already Ray. But following from what u said about building your own rally car, i had the thought about perhaps producing a sheet with a stack of stuff to make your own race car - something along the lines of the 'Scale Auto Style' racing team!!!:D.
mstngcobrasvt98 - Cool! Looks like the ITR that was featured in Scale Auto Mag. As things develop then i will be able to develop new products and if the decasl are popular then i will introduce more elaborate schemes consisting of several colours. At the moment all the designs will use one colour.

No! They won't be vinyl, they'd be waterslide decals and they would be printed proffesionally by someone.
