I swapped an LS/VTEC motor into my car last year before winter hit. The motor ran fine other then burning a little oil. The machanic that put the motor in said that the timing needed played with. He told me that that was the resaon that i had to stay on the starter for an extra second or two to get it to fire up. Well i put my car in the garage for the winter when I tried to pull her out it wouldnt start. Even with a new battery still nothing. I am getting fuel, and spark so I dont really have any other ideas. PLEASE HELP!

Could my timing being off be the reason my car wont start, I mean It ran before i put it away.

if i were you ill change the timing belt and fix the timing ..its so simple just take the belt off the make sure the #1 piston is TDC..line up the arrows on the cam gears..what is easy the holes on the cams should line up with the holes on the bracket when you take off your valve cover ... put the belt back on ..after that rotate your crank 3 times making sure all 3 times the markings on your crank pulley line up with the timing mark on your bottom plastic cover... and if it does your time is correct .. oh yeah make sure the distributor is right before you start also .. have good spark plugs and wires and you shouldnt have any problems ... they say if your car sit for awhile it should be started like once a month and drove around but i dunno ill find out when i get home and my b20vtec has sat in my storage for a year

does it crank?

no start problem troubleshooting should start with fuel, spark, ignition timing, and cam timing. work from there.
