HOW TO: Paint your interior

Whos cavy is that in the picture you posted?? I'm guessing when you paint those inserts on the door where there is the carpet type material you just take that shit off sand it down and then go from there right??

my gf put that movie in and didn't tell me what it was so i was watching it for a bit with her and then a very bad thing happend in the movie and i riped that DVD out of there n told her to get something better so we watched spice world n that was alot better lol

Allrighty on Sunday im going to go pick up 2 door panels for my car and mabye a center console so i can paint them red too I think im allso going to pick up a set of the 00-02 tail lights cause they look alot better than mine do

Why not paint the door panels you have?

that way when i go to sell the car if the person dosen't like the interior i can change it back to stock

i just thought for the 00-02 tail lights u unsrewed the bulbs out of the light housing and then took the houseing off the car and installed the new tail lights and screwed the bulbs back in

I don't know why i want to paint it Black i guess im just bored of the red. and the black will look more like a stock option but painting will have to wait cause its way too damn cold outside to paint now

Well here is my 2 cents and theories. I am in the process of doing my interior. I got a 97 Z24, unluckily got the beige and black interior.....plan on ripping out the back seats and door panels and replacing them with the black ones, and redo the ceiling carpet a different colour, and hopefully the ground carpet.....my theory is, I dont paint anything that will be touched or rubbed against a lot, IE door panel armrests, door handles, any of that because it will rub off and look bad in time, and will cause you to re paint. my interior is partially painted for now, its too cold out to go any further now, When I paint, I do not sand, I prime, paint, clearcoat. The best tool you could use when painting in your basement or shop, a HAIRDRYER, dries the coats so fast, cuts drying time like crazy. My interior is a red/white/black look so far, working towards more of a 40% white, 40% red, and 20% black look. Just need to do some massive junkyarding to replace these beige pieces for black ones and find a way to get the ceiling carpet off so I can re-fabricate it. I get a digicam in a week, maybe I'll throw some pictures up and make a car domain. Any suggestions or help welcome here!

ok i want to do my interior mostly blue cuz thats what i want advanced auto has blue with metal flake for like 9.95 a can. Has anyone done thiers with the metal flake one dont wann spend $10 a can if its not worth it. does it come out decent? not to sound gay but i think it would look nice all sparkly lol

i have black and tanish gray interior and plan on painting the black stuff green, do you guys think green and tanish gray will work?

oh, and im going to use krylon spray paint, is that good to use? it was the best brand i could find.

i got silver krylon stuff n i kinda thought it was shitty cause the can sprays it to fast i used duplicolour and it has a different spray nozzele that works alot better IMO

Well I decieded to update my interior I was getting bored of the painted red interior so i changed it somewhat back to stock with some things painted silver, all so I changed my center console to a 00+ manual console.

The updated interior looks sweet Jay. I'm also returning mine to stock, I already got someone lined up who wants to swap his stock pieces for my painted red pieces. I also got sick of the painted interior look.

oh, does it have the a/c outlet on the side like my gf's '03 sunfire? cuz i want that, if it does im definatly swapping my consoles.

thanks for the comments guys, ya mine is out of a 2001 and it dosen't have the 12v outlet n my girlfriends sunfire is a 2001 n dosen't but my friends 2002 has the outlet so im guessing its on 2002+ J's

yeah... i dont want it to look like a manual - i just dont like that super faggish cold steel rod in the middle of my car - its just not stylish, i take great care in the cleanliness of my vehicle, and i do everything that i can to make it look seamless. i have an 04 allready, so i would just need the boot, and to take off the plastic trim piece around the shifter bezel

Hi I just got a 97 cavalier z24 and I'm looking forward to getting started on customizing it. I have no experience on painting the interior of a car. I'm planning on going to the junk yard and picking up a spare dash and door panels. I was wondering what paint I should use and the steps required to painting the dash and panels.
