Uh so yea

I just stumbled upon the forum today for the first time, and ive been readin a few posts about all these Civic mod's...

SO my question is...

What do you folks think the first most basic mod to a civic should be, that isnt gonna leave me with $0 in my bank account?

I've got a 99 red 4dr civic lx..

All ive done so far is put on some new tires and rims, 5% limo tint on all windows, and hooked up my stereo kinda nice.

I'm talkin about mod's that are going to increase permomance, no matter how big or small..

Like for the engine or the exhaust system...

I'm not into any fancy exterior shit, so no lowering springs, suspension tweaks, or body kits, nothin like that.

I love my semi factory look anyways.

Thanks for the help (hopefully)..

Heres a bad pic for no reason..this better come out...

I would still suggest lowering springs even if you go like a 1" drop. It'll make your rims look a helluva lot better. It will also give you a lower center of gravity which will help in cornering.

If you just want to stick with engine mods, you could always go I/H/E (Cold Air Intake/Headers/Exhaust). AEM is a good CAI. DC Sports would be the way to go for Headers. Exhaust depends on what you like - quiet or loud and what tone you like. Greddy, Thermal R&D, DC Sports, and Tanabe are good brands just to name a few. Go to www.groupbuycenter.com They usually have good deals on Intakes, headers, and exhausts.

All of that will run you around $1,000 or so. If you want to save money, you could always make your own CAI by going to www.teamdelsol.com and looking in their how-to section. You will most likely have to modify the design and measurments to make it work correctly but it will probably save you around $100 compared to an AEM intake. As far as headers, I would still stick with DC Sports because they are a very good brand and you'll get the most out of them. If you wanted to save on exhaust, you could get a universal muffler and go to a custom shop and have 2.25" pipe custom mandrel bent and have that installed.

If you check out the FAQ here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t15933.html), it should answer a lot of questions you may have about everything.

Damn thats exactly what I did and what I think too. On these D-series I don't see much to do except swap $$$$$ or turbo $$$$$$. Exhaust and Intake would be nice but then people make fun again because the car is slow and stock, but really loud. Nice suspension system is also a way to go but again very costly and kind of pointless for the power available. Try swaybars or stiffer lowering springs, but the factory suspension setup will be completely messed and your shocks will be all wrong. Sorry man, id like to help you out, but I'm also stuck.
