exhaust ?

In your guys opinion what is the best sounding exhaust for a 2.2l 4 cylinder. I cant stand the stock sound anymore. I know there is not many to choose from for this motor but i thought i would ask.

i havent done the exhaust on mine, but i know a kid that put in a highflow universal cat, and a 2.5" cherrybomb and it sounded okay. he only replaced it because he lost his running over an xmas tree on the highway a couple months ago.

Just ok. I know the motor won't sound real powerful just being a 2.2l but i want something that will sound good. If i do change the exhaust im changing everything headers and all.

i did a ravin z55 on mine..... i'll find my sound clips

hey i've also got a 2.2L 4-cyl. i went to hearthrob exhaust and baught an aftermarket cat and their new 'velocity' series muffler with their bent pipes from them. now with the headers, i went out of my way and made a custom one on my own but if you've got the money go somewhere that specialize in exhaust only and get a header made. and if you want to check the site for heart throb exhaust......http://www.heartthrobexhaust.com/. give them a call and they can prolly help you out.

i believe $260 for what they called custom exhaust. i guess any bent tube is custom

Mike I thought this was on a s-10, that sound clip is not from a s-10!. Look at the wheels that is a 4 lug pattern s-10's are 5 lugs. and the bumper does not look like a s-10 one. are u sure that is a s-10 sound clip

Sorry mike I got confused on what you were recording. I just thought that the sound clip actually came from your truck. I thought it sounded a little weird for an s-10 but still good.

it did come from my truck.. i appologize, but i just had the camera turned so the mic could be closer to the truck.

if u havn't already done ur exhaust i would recomend to keep it simple with a flowmaster 40 series. they have a somewhat throaty sound, but they are a little queiter. depends on what u want. it gets rid of the 4 banger jap sound to some degree and makes it sound bigger. or if u want loud and like the 4cly jap sound than look at the cheaper stuff. tends to be louder. more expensive stuff is more concentrated on flow and performance than sound. a cherry bomb would probably be the most extreme. it's basically a straight peice of pipe with glass packing to muffle it a little as it passes straight through. if u drive it every day than i definatley don't recomend it u will probably snag a few tickets here and there

Gotcha mike, about how long did the install take. Im hoping only a few hours. and another question on my exhaust one of the two bolts that hold the exhaust onto the manifold is stripped out how in the hell do i get that out. there is absolutely no room at all to drill it out. well there is no room for anything really. im stumped here. The reason it is stripped is because when i switched the frames on my truck i had to take the exhaust off but i ended up stripping the damn thing out. so i just cut it and took it off that way. am i screwed here.
