Brake Squeak

My wife's 2002 Suburban has recently started squeaking a bit when you apply the brakes. It squeaks most of the time but not all of the time (appears to be coming from front right). I would think if the squeak was the wear indicator that it would happen all the time. I looked at the pads probably 3,000 miles agoa(the vehicle has less than 34,000 miles on it) and they all appeared to have plenty life left. I don't have a problem replacing the pads but if that is not the problem I would like to know what else I might need to look at.

Thanks

1999 Suburban 5.7 V8 2WD

Had the same problem on mine. Changed the front pads this weekend even though I still had some pad left before the indicators ever hit. Problem went away. Don't know if the old pads get hard spots or not, just a thought.

My 96 had/has this issue. I replaced the pads with the BEST they had and 3 weeks later it squeaks again... When I can't take the noise anymore, I'll bring the front rotors to be turned then put on new pads.

Update... The 96 Suburban HAD this issue.

I brought in the rotors 2 weeks back to see if I could have them turned / cleaned up by the local auto parts place since they were pretty gouged. When mic'd, they were already under, so I decided to invest in a new set of front rotors. I didn't buy the cheapo Made in China brand but went with next more expensive OEM Made in USA brand and got a new set of brake pads. I paid $175 and walked out the door with my new front brakes, installed them. Have been breaking them in over the past weeks and everything seems OK

So far...
