98 civic dies while driving

My 98 civic dies out while I'm driving it on the road. I'll just be driving along and all of a sudden the idle drops to zero. After I pull over to the side of the road, I try to start up my car and it starts but immediately dies. I'll even try to give it some gas right after it starts up and the idle goes up but something cuts off the gas because my foot is still pressing on the pedal but the idle just drops to zero again. My car will eventually start up again after several tries. There really seems to be no pattern to it. Sometimes it will die out when I'm at a stop light and other times it will die out when I'm going 30 mph. Very weird and scary. This just began happening. Any ideas? Thanks!

sounds like something that has to do with either electrical (starter, battery, alternator) or fuel (pump, fuel lines)

Might be the dizzy too. Is your check engine light on? Check the computer for codes. GL
