I've heard of valve tick in Eclipse's but how common is it in Civic's? I have a pretty loud click and I want to know if it could be a problem or if it's nothing to worry about? If it would help I can record it an post it.

is it at only at startup and then goes away? is it a tick or a knock? give some more detail and i'll troubleshoot it.

It's a continious tick. It's obviously comming from the head. It sounds almost exactly like an Eclipse lifter tick. I'll post a link to a wave file later when I've had a chance to record it.

sounds like its time to check your valve lash

Is there a post on checking that already and what should I be expecting to replace if worse comes to worse.

Here's some audio recordings of what my engine sounds like.

sounds like a typical civic. injector cleaner and valve lash adjustment should fix it. i didnt hear any problems.

how difficult is the valve lash adjustment and do I need any special tools? I run 93 octane all the time. That's all i've put in it since the beginning of Dec.

you need a set of valve lash feeler gauges. but you can get them at autozone. its pretty easy. good luck. and it never hurts to put some injector cleaner in your tank. (i found that valvoline works best)

idk why your running 93 octane but ,to do a valve lash just check my sig for instructions. there was a diy roaming around the net with pics the the pics have been deleted off that server. ill see if i can find another one.

I'm running 93 octane because when I swap engines I'll be going turbo. This way I'm already used to paying for the gas.
