$12.35 solution for BOV recirculation tube

Yo guys, as you should know, I went with the XS Power FMIC group buy kit. I also showed you guys pictures of it, and how crimped the hose I had to recirculate my bov was. Well, after 2 hours of work and 2 trips to the store, I have the solution to your bov tube if it is crimped, or you are venting it.
Total cost of project : $12.35 (might be less if you already have some parts)
Alright, the parts/tools you need are as follows:
- 2 feet of vacuum hose
- 6 1.75" hose clamps
- A long enough piece of rubber hosing, maybe atleast a foot, to use as couplers. (I used a radiator pipe and cut it).
- 1 "P Trap" tubing kit with 1.25" inlet/outlet. (Got this in plumbing section of Lowes home improvement store)
- The normal wrenches/sockets you would need to install a bov
- Hacksaw/cutting tool
- Sander/metal file
I'm sorry I didn't take step by step pictures during installation cause I forgot my camera, but I think the pictures explain this very well. I am also just trying to remember from memory, so take precise measurements when cutting.
First, you will need to remove the bov from the flange on the IC pipe. Turn the bov around so that the outlet port is facing the windshield. Now, remove the old vac hose for the bov, and replace it with the longer piece you have and cut it to the proper length needed. Bolt the bov back down to the flange on the IC pipe.
Next, cut the smaller pipe in the "P Trap" pipe kit so that you get a 180 degree bend out of it. This piece will be going on the outlet port of the bov. Next, cut the rubber hose you have to use as a coupler. Each cut should be approx. 3" long. Then, cut the longer of the "P Trap" pipe about maybe 1.25" off of the side without the flange on it.
Connect all of the pipes together with the rubber hose couplers and secure them with the hose clamps, and you are basicly done! Just make sure to check for leaks and if everything is tight. Pictures are below:

I think the end result came out VERY nice. It has no leaks, looks great, and it idles/drives perfect, plus the bov whistle is very quite during normal driving, but like 10x louder under boost now lol.
Anyone have any questions?

that looks awesome... how were you recirculating it before you did that??
You should get an upper strut brace to make the engine bay look a little bit better:)

In that pic you can see the hose I was using before this. It was such a sharp angle that it crimped the whole thing.

Sounds real nice, quiet for normal driving, but the signature loud whistle if you boost and let off. I'll get sound clips when I can, skipped out in doing homework to do this today lol.

nice, the problem is that everyone has a different intake pipe / uicp so this won't work unless very similar to your setup. I need to get my ass out of this house and try to find some piping that will work. But good job.

Some things could be changed to fit other applications, you just need your imagination man! lol, but thanks.
I originally thought of routing the pipe with the bov facing the other way, like I had it before. But, my friend had the idea to turn it 180 degrees and all the pipes fit PERFECTLY, just needed to trim a little off of the longer pipe to accomodate for the couplers.

I'll take a picture of the angle that mine comes off lol. We'll see if it's just an imagination lol. I know there is this flexible tubing stuff, It's kinda like the bendable part of a straw, but bigger. If I can find that stuff with the righ ID, that would work perfect.

it is "Fucking Genious"! I am in the process of doing it to mine right now (waiting for paint to dry). I couldnt use the hardpipe for the whole thing because my setup wouldnt allow for it.
I went to lowes about an hour ago and picked up 25.00 worth of pipes, hoses, and clamps just to make sure I wouldnt have to go back. Out of what I got I was able to use the flexible "J" pipe (silver rubber piece), part of the "P" trap, a few 1.25 coupler hoses, and a coupler going from 1.25 to 2 inches (cause I dont have a fancy dejon tool pipe like some ppl  ). After I return all my unused junk it will probably be about 15.00.
I got the plastic "P" trap cause my intake is mainly plastic (exept for the black powder coated dejon short pipe). and to cut down on the weight of course  ! J/P but I just cut it to size and painted it black. which is why im not done yet, gotta wait for the damn paint to dry.
the install will take just under an hour and a half including the paint dry.
THANKS FOR THE IDEA! Never thought to turn the BOV around!
I will try and post pics asap!
EDIT>gotta get a ride to Lowes to get a vaccum hose :screwy: SOB I knew I forgot something :banghead:

I did this not that long ago, just for the noise
This is what i bought 3.99
http://img174.exs.cx/img174/1149/pipe1.jpg
then cut it to fit as best as posible and put my little bro's bike tire tube pieces on the ends.
http://img174.exs.cx/img174/8604/pipe2.jpg
Then i clamped it on like so.
http://img174.exs.cx/img174/9053/pipe3.jpg
and now it matches my intercooler piping, lol

yeah this idea was done on dsmtuners.com http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163819
so that "p trap kit" is a piping kit you can get at lowes? so it would have enough bends so that i can match it to my set up?
hmmm i have a hack saw. i think i'll give it a try. i think i get 1" piping, and use 1.25" radiator hose i have as gaskets. my bov and intake return are 1", so the metal pipe would line up perfect.

Eh... mine is prettier lol.
Ya, I got the p trap in the like plumbing section, and it fit perfectly without having to actually bend the p trap pipes, just a little trimming. But, that is with my setup. I think that you could probably just use the longer pipe that comes in the kit and it should work fine.
