What guy's do you pay for insurance. I now have to get off of my mom's insurance and get my own. So, this sucks. I checked out Geico, which had the lowest rating for a 6 month period and it's $1,224.00. That's a lot.. I think. I am only 18 and have had like 5 tickets in my driving record... so yeah. What do you guy's pay?

I'm paying around $3,000 a year right now.

$900 a year. :D It helps that I am 25 and havent had any tickets or accidents in a while.

And insurace always depends on your state (or sometimes even the city), your age, your record, what you drive, etc. So many variables that no one will be able to get you an accurate amount of what you should pay other than the companys themselves.

To tell you how much difference there is a friend of mine in NYC has to pay $500 A MONTH for liability only on his 93 VR4. That means he is paying more in 2 months than I pay in a year, but I have full coverage, full tort, $250 deductible, and alot of other higher coverages.

That suck you have to pay your own now. I think my parents are paying like $1200 a year for me and I'm 18 with 4 tickets in the past year. So it may go up.

you think that $1,224.00 suck and you have four tickets. I have no tickets i'm 19 and no accidents (except for the one in my sig. but the people at the insurance company told me that it was not going to be on my record but it is) and I got a quote for my 92 SL from esurance and it was well over $3,000 for a 6 month period. But still looking for better prices because I havent passed the emissions test (AZ) and have no plates yet.

I pay about $900 a year and im 15. It helps when you live in North Dakota though. lol

Yeah, before I had my tickets I was at about $900 when I was 14. Thats the beauty of the Midwest, you dont have to pay through the butt on everything you buy.

TorchedStealth
03-27-2006, 05:13 PM
^ Yeah the midwest is great for that. It sucks that its cold and snowy for half the year though, but hey thats why you buy dirtbikes and snowmobiles to keep you busy when you cant keep your car clean.

VR43000GT
03-27-2006, 05:30 PM
^^^ Its not that bad here in Nebraska. Yeah it gets somewhat cold but I wouldn't say half the year. But you are right in the fact that there is so much off road potential for almost anything whether its a snowmobile, dirt bike, quad, etc.

TorchedStealth
03-27-2006, 05:47 PM
Yeah I was exaggerating a little on the weather but my point was you can race dirtbikes and snowmobiles when you cant do it in your car. Looks like your bike would beat mine though:icon16:

speak for yourselfs when I was 16, and under my parents insurance I was paying 1200 every 6 months in chicago... now that I'm 18 with my z, I'm paying like 1,300 a year under my parent's insurance, but my name is on the title...

it also helps when you probably just have liability insurance, and most eveyone else on here who has quoted their insurance is quoting full coverage.

it's funny how some people are so uninformed with insurance. Like this:

"What guy's do you pay for insurance. I now have to get off of my mom's insurance and get my own. So, this sucks. 1224 is DIRT ASS CHEAP for being a MALE, 18, and 5 tickets. you are damn lucky you can even get insurance in the first place.

ah, yes, ND. I handle business in that state. cheap insurance. and so, SL3000GT, I was speaking to the owner of this post, as I repeated what he said. male, 18, 5 tickets, and 1224/6 months. if you have that exact scenario then that is ironic!

Pretty damn close actually. 4 traffic tickets and one parking ticket, I'm 18 and pay about $1200 except thats per year.

damn, I pay (liability) $187 a month... a/b 1300/6months... and I only got 3 tickets on my license (that were not dropped/non-moving violations)... I do have a wreck that's up there though... but it should be off when I renew...

Actually the earlier you get off their policy the better. I have never been on my parents policy. neither has my younger brother and we are paying less than our friends with similar coverages who were on their parents policys for years.

yeah, the quicker you get off their's the better... I was on my mom's for awhile... but then I got the Stealth... she heard the car the night I brought it home from the auction... then she saw it... that was the last day I was on her insurance...

She drove it one day, on the way back... she got out (at the house)... frowned, and said, "I hate your car... it's too low, too loud, and way too fast..."

Lol, I found it amusing/flattering

Hahahahaha Sounds like my mom. She was having an issue with her car so I met her at my aunts house to let her have my car for the rest of the day. Pulling out she went from almost stalling, to pealing out, to having a hard time hitting 2nd gear. She got home later that day and threw the keys at me. She told me she was never driving it again. Said it was too loud (broken dp), gears are too close (short throw helps with that), rides too rough (just too used to her own car), and too hard to get in and out of.

VR43000GT

^^^Yeah, I get that a lot. Whether its too rough, to low so its hard to get into, and speeds to easy. Which frankly I agree with how easy it is to speed without knowing it. These cars ride so easy at high speeds.

Yes I almost get myself into trouble with that. Today in fact I went to pass someone (double lane) because I was running late for work. I look down at the speedometer and I was at 100mph. The speed limit on this stretch is 35.

I went 157 in a 55 once (or twice) and 150 in a 65 twice. I don't wanna go any faster than that.

VR43000GT
03-30-2006, 11:45 PM
Im pretty sure that would jail time at those speeds. That might almost be worth running from the 5 0.

Stealthee
03-30-2006, 11:48 PM
Most over the speed limit I have gone is waaay too far over. I had some jackass following me and I ended up doing about 130 in a 35. Not smart. I have went 140 in a 65.

I can only imagine what you would say when the cop said do you know why I pulled you over. LOL. "I'd say 40-45 tops".lol

Stealthee
03-30-2006, 11:57 PM
LOL If I was going that fast and a cop got me on radar he'd have a hell of time even getting close enough for me to see his lights flashing. I am good at "avoiding" cops too.;) Done it one too many times. Never evaded though.

Actually a kid I go to school with got pulled over doing 145 in a 55 i believe....He had a super nice STI....Parents have money and somehow he didnt even lose his license, his dad made him sell his car and get a new one...a 06 vette, good lesson learned there

VR43000GT
03-31-2006, 12:09 AM
:eek2: .......Yeah, I bet that taught him a lesson. :shakehead I would think that somone with that much money would have the sense not to buy his kid an even faster car when he gets an outstanding speeding ticket. :banghead:

lol... yeah... I ended up running one night... it was a cop SUV all over my tail (60 in a 55)... then I got tired of them riding my ass (didn't know it was a cop at this point)... so I took off... 80 no problem... 90... 100... 110.. 120... lights... holy crap... what to do... I said damn that thing must be slow, to be that far behind me... I'm already in serious trouble... so I might as well leave him... a/b 135... and I slammed brakes, and turned a side street (cop was outta vieW)... then I pulled down far enough and cut off all my lights...
He flew by...

On the way home (I was taking g/f home), I pass him... this time my neons were off... he looked at me really hard, then kept going... I was so f'in lucky...
