2000 Grand am accelaration

I have this Pontiac Grand am 2.5L. 1st, it's sound like a truck not a car.
2nd, when I accelerate the car as a very poor acceleration and it's sound's like the motor is pouching or sucking up air. Bottom line is my car is and sound sick. Can anyone help me please?

is the check engine light on? how many miles and when was last tune up?

The car as over 300000 k. Tune up was done 6 months ago.
