=D yep, youll end up with a box full of dusty old plastic intake parts, and have a nice shiny new intake to make the egine make alot better. You can even make it pink if you wished. Thats the great thing bout makin stuff, you can do whatever u want to it, and when it turns out nice, you feel good cuz you know you did it yourself. Haha like the feelin u got when u finished the dyeing of the interior.

^man nottin is better than the feeling of accomplishing something on your own. its the best. thats how i prefer to do everything but with some stuff i just dont have the right equipment for the job so i go else where.

=D haha like alligning rear wheels or bending exhaust pipes? Dam i need connections. Can someone tell me why i have connections in all the wrong places? I mean my old neighbor that moved takes out dings and what not, which really helped when i first got the car, and he has connections to body places the make kits. Buuuttttt I dont plan on gettin any kits till i get it repainted, which is goin to be a lonnnggg while. Oh well, I cant complain, atleast I have someone.

Thanks guys for the ideas. Doing the body work no problem but performance stuff and I am a little out of my league  . But like I said whats the worse that can happen. Might as well go for it. So far so good.
Has anyone tried to dye their parts yet????? Mista no problem I will email you the info tonight when I get home from work.
I guess I will put the leds on then go for the exhaust and intake. What you guys recommend for headlights??? I think I heard of one called a artez (okay something like that)

^dont know what you think of them. or if you dont want to get a whole assembly you could just swap out the bulbs with something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-04-Ford-Focus-H4-9003-HID-Xenon-Headlight-BULB-02-03_W0QQitemZ230013749071QQihZ013QQcategoryZ36476QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

He kinda does have a point, he's not trying to be an asshole. It's like the Cavalier forum is the USA and every other car forum are the other countries that are full of civil wars, so they come to us for refuge and most of us feel the need to help them  So they shouldn't be afraid to ask or shunned away because their own forum is full of assholes.

A little late but here but here is the list of products you will need to complete the dye process:
Tack cloth - made by bondo
Adhesion, promoter (dupli-color)
Adhesive, wax & mark remover (3m)
Lacquer thinner (dupli-color) to clean out gun between colors
dye (i used white as the base since my orginal color was black, then the pink.) I used one pint of each color.
paint gun
blue tape for painting
You can get the primary colors in a spray can form but if you want a particular color you will need to have it mixed. I got all the above except the dye from advance auto parts. THe dye I got from west springfield auto parts. If you want the spray cans I mentioned earlier that g2 makes it.
Hope this helps.

Well, I've started sanding the passenger side door panel today and uh yeah, sanding sucks lol. I am doing it by hand tho so that doesn't help. Doing it in my room with the Ac blasting. But I want the glossy fiberglass look tho so it's a must. I feel like just painting it and keeping the stock texture would be taking the easy way out and I want it to look like I put alot of work into it and I don't want people saying, "Ehh it looks cool but all he did was just spray paint it, anybody could do it." Nope, not gonna happen. :nono:

okay u said I could ask so here it goes..... I want to put some bass in the car. Dont want to speak thousands of dollars bec I dont want someone to try and steal it ya know. Anyway I was told to look for either alpine or infinity amp and subs, does that sound right? I was thinking of either 10 or 12 inch subs. Now for first dumb question.... What wires would I need to get? 10 guage 12 or 14 guage? I found a web site I can get the alpine subs but it doesnt say what wires to get. Second dumb quest.... will this be easy... I mean simple for someone who hasnt done it before?
Okay thats it for now but I am sure I have plenty more to come... as long as you guys dont mind I will keep asking. If so could you email me or if you msn messenger add me? [email protected]

Alpine and infinity are expensive, as for wiring, the bigger the gauge the less resistance, the better the sound. I'm with you on not needed extreme amounts of bass so I just bought 2 10" subs made by Dual at my local pepboys and they were good enough for me. They were only $50 a piece. As for the labor, it's not that hard you just have to know which wires are the power, ground, remote, that kinda stuff.

Well its good that you started the sanding process. Are you going to paint or dye? So in other words you think I took the easy way out??? :shakehead I have to say I would disagree. Tho the process is much easier and I kept the texture it certainly looks good. I have had a few people ask me to do theirs. It looks like it came from the factory that way. and no one has said that "anybody could do it." :nono: but thats okay I wont take offense to your comment above...... I take it with stride.......

lol No, i wasn't saying you took the easy way out, it's just my own preference for my car. I know it would be alot quicker and easier for me to just prime and paint, but I want the fiberglass look more and i know if i just primed and painted then I wouldnt be satisfied. But i'm going to use paint. That Interior paint write is gonna be my bible.

 .......Okay like I said I wont take offense. Just thought it was funny when you said it was the easy way out..... I didnt want the fiberglass look because I figured it would look funny. I only did the top portions of the doors. The bottom half is leather and if the top was done like fiberglass it would look at of place.
How far did you get? Ready to prime yet???? What color are you doing??

Heyy if you dont mind, can you copy the email and post it here? Haha I wanna see what the procedure is, might be a good idea for another day.
Tack cloth - made by bondo
Adhesion promoter (dupli-color)
Adhesive, wax and mark remover (3m)
Lacquer thinner (dupli-color)
Dye
Blue tape made especially for paint.
I got everything but the dye from advance auto parts. The dye I got from west Springfield auto parts. This process was so easy. There is no sanding required unless you want a fiber glass look. But I wanted it to look factory so I left the texture as is.
Remove items that you want to dye (I know this was obvious lol)
wipe down the parts with the adhesive remover. Get into the cracks. This will remove any armorall and stuff that is on your parts. This allows the tape to stick much better.
tape off the parts you don’t want to dye. Make sure you tape very well. As with the paint gun will try to get under the tape so tape well.
wipe down the areas you want to dye with the adhesive remover. DO NOT TOUCH WITH FINGERS afterwards.
After you have wiped down all the parts use the tack cloth right before you start to remove any dust that my have gotten on the parts in the mean time.
Spray adhesion promoter on all the parts. Let sit for 5 minutes. By the time you get to the last piece the first one should be ready for the next step.
Spray first coat of white. You may see the original color thru it but that is okay. Wait 5 minutes for flash then do a second coat. This will cover and look as a finished product. But its not. Lol
Wait ½ to dry then do the color you want. By the time you finish the second coat, clean the gun with the lacquer thinner, put you dye in the paint gun it will be a half hour. Lol
spray on the first coat, wait 5 minutes for flash then but on a second coat.
That’s it. It will look like it came out of factory that way. I used a semi gloss dye but you can get a glossy dye if you want to. If you have any questions feel free to email me at [email protected] ([email protected]).
Good luck and let me know how you do. The process took less than a day. This was my first time doing it to. They posted my pics above.

:nono:yeah since you going for the fiberglass look the pain in the ass sanding will pay off big time in the end. i know it really sucks. i sanded all my shit for days. then put coat of primer and sanded yet again.:banghead: so yeah it takes some work but if done good then its worth it

Not to burst your buble or anything....:banghead: but write up were you referring to? I found one that was wrong. Yes if you want the fiberglass look there is alot of sanding but you need to make sure you use the proper sand paper. And I hate to say it... but starting with 60 isnt correct. :nono: And you dont want to use a circular sander either bec it will leave swirls. Also after each level of primer etc.... you will need to sand.
I know you guys probally have done this a thousand times but I got a little nervous when you wrote you used 60 grit. So if I am out of place, sorry.
cheryl
ps. it will probally take you a week or two just for the sanding. so getting a door done today isnt that bad. lol ... well for guy ......(sorry couldnt resist)
