well to get in to detail...i got this bumper, a stock bumper that is, for my car that is a different color. its a burgundy color and mine is a bluish.
what would be better to strip the paint off? wondering either sandpaper or chemicals?

so are you wanting to paint it to match your car? If so, sand it, and you don't have to sand the old paint completely off.

just make sure i get the clear coat off right?
what grit would you recommend?

I would take my orbital sander and go with about a 160
