ok...i've been debating for a while on what to do to my civic..it is a 97 ex with 130,000 miles on it. i was thinking of doing ihe and spraying like a 50 shot just for fun. Right now the money isn't around for the turbo or anything. i am lucky to come up with 100 bucks extra a month. --job hunt in progress :D -- If i get a better job i am going to buy a nissan 240sx s15 chassis and drop in the sr20. so for about 5 or 6 grand i'll have a rear wheel turbo machine with tons more potential that my FF sohc. what i want to know is what steps should be taken to safely spray 50 shot on a high milage sohc. colder plugs, external coil, etc. would like some word from someone with experience....thanx for the help

Simply put, possibly and engine rebuild. I know a 50 shot isn't too much, but still on an engine with 130,000 miles, it just seems a little risky to me. Now I have never run N2O but it just seems to me that it can play hell on your internals if you aren't careful. Maybe someone with more experience has a better answer.

man just drop in a b18c1 and go to town with it....and plus parts are cheaper than for a 240 i believe....b18c1=gsr=most stolen engine in the US

To answer your question, I would say above all else, a rebuild! If you do not want to rebuild then I would upgrade the entire fuel system without question no matter what you do. If you a 50 shot on that motor with that many miles then you are gonna have alot of problems real fast!

I like the idea of the SR20DET but i would modify it just a little bit. Ok screw getting a 240 just put the "blacktop" in the civic i have heard it is possible w/o extreme fabrication plus that sun of a bitch would haul ass!!!! So in my opinion hold off on the juice and hold off on buying the 240 use all your saved money to have a gross ass civic.

A rear wheel drive engine in a Front wheel drive body? Don’t know about you but creating a drive shaft tunnel from front to back on a civic sounds like extreme fabrication to me.

Haha, exactly what I was about to say...I don't know too much about spaying on a Honda engine. I've sprayed for a while on V8s though...Not really too much to worry about, as long as the engine is in good tune. Really the only things that you have to be careful about are hitting the rev limiter while spraying, and your fuel system crapping out. And there are safety devices to protect your vehicle in each of those cases. So I would say go for it, except b/c like I said I'm not too familiar with Honda engines, I don't know how big a 50 shot is in relation to what they can normely handle. Just keep the shot relatively light and you should be set.

a 50 shot of nitrous will be fine on your motor. just make sure you have at least 1 step colder plugs, and clean oil. after that it all comes down to whether you're gonna go with a wet or dry system. either one will be fine, but your stock injectors can only handle so much before they crap out. so IMO if you want to run more than 80 shots, which i know you wouldn't do, get a dry system.

for your info:
a buddy of mine has a 94 ex coupe with I/H/E and dry nitrous kit doing 75 shots, was able to hit consistent mid 14's all day long at the tracks. he was faster than most civics with B18c1 swaps.
