Hey, about a week ago i was riding down the free way when smoke started flying everywhere. When I opened up my hood I saw one of the most hanis things I ever saw....my motor was on fire. I put the hood down kwik and had one of my friends go to the closest store to get me some water. No wiring was damaged and my car still started. The only thing was that oil flew all over the place. My first thought was "head gasket". When I tore my car down a little a few days later to see what the problem was, I found a hole in the block about the size of half a paper plate. I could not believe that my car still ran. Anyhow, I cant find a new block anywhere and like hell im gonna get rid of my GSX. Iv been looking all over the place for a 4g63 motor now too. I was just wondering if anyone of the experts in here can help my out at all? Im only 17 and got this car 3 1/2 months ago, I hardly know what im doing. Thanks.

You can get a new motor from an Japan motor importer. We have a place called Japan Direct in Raleigh who imports new 4G63s and they cost around $1400. They normally come with around 30k miles on them. If you are a 90-94, it will bolt in, and if you are 95-99, you will need some custom work for the motor mounts. You are looking at around 2500 installed, for an engine with relatively low miles. I would then part out what is left from your old engine, like the head and stuff. Let me know what year it is, and I can help you out a little more.

Yeah, I have heard about gettings engines from Japan with about 30,000 miles. It sounds like that will be your best bet. I am just still wondering how there is a giant hole in your engine. Did anything come lose from the engine?

The JDM engine, known as a "cyclone" will bolt directly into your car. Like I said, it will cost around $1400 for the engine with tranny and ECU. You will need to keep your stock intake manifold, as the cyclone intake mani is a complex piece of shit. The jdm engine is basically a 1G 6 bolt engine from the galant vr-4 or evo 3 and earlier. You can contact Japan Direct here in Raleigh, let me know if you need the number. Another big importer is ARD Performance. Check your local phone book for used engine dealers, and you might find one in there local to you.
