I did a search but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I just hooked up my autometer air/fuel gauge, it came with the car. Anyways, the gauge is telling me that the car is running rich, the gauge is on the last rich light. How would I fix the problem? thanks

get a wide band and read it accuratly, what you have is nothing but a light show

I know, I want to but I dont have the money right now. But I think the gauge says its rich for a reason right or is it a gauge that just shows whatever it wants?

if the gauge is reading all the way one way or the other and isn't moving, you installed it on the wrong pin on the ECU. I forget which one it is, but you just misssed the 02 wire.

its pin 6 . the guy I bought the car from already had it hooked up but he cut the gauge wires so I wouldnt see that the car was running rich. the o2 wire is white, pin 6 and 7 both are white. Should I try the other white wire I dont want to screw anything up. I installed it how the direction said to, i checked and re-checked.

Did you make sure you had the 2g ecu diagram?? I'm looking for the one I used, but I can't find it.

yup, what I meant by pin 6 was pin 76. http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html

Usually narrow band o2 gauges aren't accurate. If you have no boost leaks and aren't running bigger injectors i see no reason for running rich.

well tomorrow I'm going to pull the spark plugs and see whats really going on. thanks
BTW... I think I'm getting some lifter tick. i know its nothing to worry about. When I bought car I checked the dip stick and the oil level was under the first notch. it took 1 1/2 quarts to fill it. some people just don't care, even though he is from a race team called team one.

Today I pulled out all te spark plugs and there is some carbon biuld up on them. the top of the piston is full dry gunk. So I think that the car has been running rich for quit a while. the next thing i want to do is change the stock coils which have over 100K miles on them to MSD coils. any ideas? thanks

I dont think msd makes a coil for the 4g63, if you want anything other than factory IIRC your options are that aem coil deal, srb makes a cop setup, and theres a few that I'm probably forgetting

when I say ignition I mean the whole ignition system. coils, plug wires, spark plugs I already have. The actual ignition compter (whatever its called) from msd, but I dont know which one to get. Im thinking this one. http://www.ongreenperformance.com/FrameSets/2G%20Performance.htm its at the bottem of the page

If you're also getting shitty gas mileage then look into replacing the front 02 sensor.
