S-10 tire pressures

I have a '99 S-10 and noticed that my front tires are wearing in the center. I've been putting 32 psi all the way around as this is the pressure specified on the door jamb but this seems a bit excessive to me. I seldom carry a load. What tire pressures are you all using? I'm usins the stock sized tire. Thanks

the pressure requirements should be labeled on the tire, take your truck to a tire shop, they should be able to tell you with out charging why your tires are wearing that way, does it look like your tires are bowed in or out?

the spec on the tires is the max pressure you can run in them. every tire is different. the tire pressures on the door are the recommended ones and those are generally the closest. center wear does indeed indicate an over-inflation situation. just try 30 psi and see if that makes a difference.

I have a 97. I put P25560R15's on it, a fairly wide tire (which by the way will fit on the stock 7.5 inch custom rims with no interference anywhere) and found I had to lower the tire pressure to 28-30 psig all the way around. I get the best wear, performance and road feel at these pressures. Just try different pressures and see what works.

Get a piece of chalk and mark a line across your tires. Drive in a straight line and look at how the chalk wore off. Adjust the pressure in your tires until the chalk line wears off across the tire at the same rate. Now you know your correct pressure.

i always leave my tires at 29psi during the winter. theyre a little squishier, which in my experience is good for the snow.

you want them inflated to the tire specs a lot of people swear by the door, i dont, the tire knows what it needs, do not underinflate them, that wears the outside edge and puts less surfice on the road at one time doing that, it makes a n out of your tire, overinflation is the oppisit making a u
