I was just curious as to whether any of you know if i'll need any "special" tools or not if I attempt to replace my alternator? Is it simple or should i just take it to a shop? Any tips?

No, there are no special tools needed to remove an alternator. Just a metric socket set or a set of wrenches should do the job. Make sure to disconnect the battery cables before you begin.
