just curious, because i just bought my '95 TA two weeks ago and I've noticed that its gettin only 12 miles per gallon, about 4 or 5 less than my '87 (the '87 was a 5.0L though) anyway just wondering what everyone else gets, i'm not complaining though cause the bad mileage is definitly worth the fun i get out of this car :grinyes:

My '94 got close to 20 pretty consistently on average. If youre only driving it in the city and youre driving it hard, then 15 is probably more likely. Also, I would check to see if someone did the little resistance plug in in the Air Temp. sensor off the intake boot. If they put that chip in there it basically tells the computer that its -40 degrees all the time thus running the car rich...very rich.

yeah well it is my daily driver, to school, to work, so the stop and go traffic really kills it but I'll check for that resistance plug..

You'd smell it too, if it smells real rich at tailpipe...

i'd say on average about 8 city, about 25 highway, of course if i drive like a total idiot i can bump it down to around 3 or 4 city, i once had $20 worth of gas last me 4 miles lol

Best I could tell today...about 13 MPG. Most driving done with the RPM's bouncing around from 2500-4000 though.
My best guess once the tune is dialed in and the motor doesn't need to be broke in anymore...
16 MPG around town, 22 highway.

really? see now that worries me, cause if yours is all modified and your still getiing 15 or more than theres gotta be somethin wrong with mine if it's geting 12..

I don't think 12 is right either. You should be around 18-20 average. Even if youre driving it hard it should be better than 12...

Not really.
The LSx series were more efficient.

My 83 gets around 20 on the highway if I am just cruising, probably 12-14 city. Just a little demo on what speed does to MPG. I traveled from Washington D.C. to Michigan in 10 hours, took me 2 tanks of gas. I made it in 8 hours one trip and it took me 3 tanks of gas! And one ticket, damn Ohio!!!

Checked today...
That cruise to the BBQ put well over one hundred miles on the car.
Filled up today. 16 MPG. Not bad considering I not once used 6th gear on the highway and I did abuse it pretty bad. Still working on the break-in.

Well once I bought the 4.10's my car's fuel mileage went down the shitter. It was getting about 17-18mpg overall, and now gets around 15-16mpg. If I run on the highway, averaging about 75 mph, I usually will see about 23mpg. The thing that ruins my cars mileage isn't the fuel efficiency, it's the idiots that live in L.A., which don't know what the gas pedal is used for.
Oh yeah, and the freeways over here are like parking lots. It takes about an hour to travel 3 miles on the 10 freeway during rush hour.

yeah so i talked to someone at my school today that has a stock '98 WS6 auto and he says he's also gettin 12-14 just like mine so i guess it is just normal for the car, still though that kinda sucks but whatever its worth it :grinyes:

I 0wn a v6 firebird and i only get around 20 city and 25 highway. I got my tune up and everything else done. Not maintaining affects the air pressure and then it takes more fuel to push the car. This shouldnt be the only factor if you are getting 12 mpg. Other peeps are doin horrible too! 9mpg and 4mpg man long drive has to suck. I go to colllege and come home and i drive for about 45miles. If i were to get 10mpg, i'd be broke by now.:frown: That is another reason y i didnt get a trans am and just sticked to a v6 firebird but i do feel like swaping my v6 engine! with an lt1 w00t w00t.

Well, I guess I must have just had a fluke trans-am or babied her a lot mroe than average T/A owner because I averaged 15+. I used to drive her from college home occasionally 250 miles one way...if I was getting 9-12 mpg I would have had to kill myself.
