New tire recommendations?

I could swear I've asked something like this before but I can't find the other thread. Ok, so my rear tires are pretty much nearing the end of their service to me, and I'd like to get some 245/55 tires to slap on these old rims. What I'm looking for is something that will lower the chance of slippage/spinning in autocross racing...and maybe a few stop light races :frown:, but something that won't cost me a bundle(like the eagle f1s), and won't wear out after 100 miles like a slick. Oh and I was looking at some Falken ziex 245/55/ZR16 tires...atleast I think thats what they were, but yea I was looking at getting some of those as my friend can get me a discount on some brands at the place he works, has anyone heard anything terrible about these?

i was gonna get those same falkens when i get my new rims. i havent really heard a lot about them, but they seem pretty good. on vulcan tire.com, they were rated #1 by a consumer magazine, and they're only about $105 a piece for 18".

I hate F1's.

I loved my Kumho Ecsta MX's. But they wear fast. Great on the road courses though.

since we are on the tire topic, i had a quick question, will a 275 fit on a stock 92 camaro rim? if so i can not find any tires that size for a 15' rim.

My stock wheels are 17x9. I wouldn't go any wider than a 285 on them, and even that is pushing it.
Went to a 17x11 to fit the 315's.

Should help a little to at least give you a decent idea.

I don't EVER recommend going much wider than stock tires on the stock wheels. Unsafe.

the widest that is suppossed to go on an 8" rim is 245. i wouldn't go past that

Someone was telling me that autocrossing on all season tires(even performance ones) would cause chunking and such...should I be looking into expensive summer tires for autocrossing?:( Also...what would the ride of my car feel like with 235/55 on the front and 245/50 on the rear of my car?
