I got a 2001 regular cab short bed with the 318 v8 in it with a manual tranny and I get about 10.5-11.5 MPG

I have a 97 Ram 1500 with a 5.0L engine. I get 12 around town and 17 on the highway running 65mph. John M.

I don't recommend the six cylinders. They're gutless and just as hard on fuel as the eights.

A 5.2 is a good motor. Has just about as much power as a 5.9, and is better on fuel. Unbreakable if you even half-ass maintain it.

99 1500 4x4 5.2 14-16 at 70mph 17-20 at 55. Any load at all from my 12,000lb camper trailer to a small utility trailer I get 9mpg, no less no more. This motor is almost bulletproof. I have 116,000 and use no oil.
