my '99 dodge 3/4 p/u has suddenly developed an electrical drain of 1 amp which caused the batteries to go dead....i'v determined by trial and error the the drain is occurring thru fuse #12 labelled I.O.D.....can anyone tell what that circuit serves...i know the seat belts are involved as i can hear click in back of each seat when the circuit is interrupted...i'm new at this and not sure how to retrieve any answers i might get...i can be contacted @ [email protected]

I.O.D. stands for ignition off draw. That circuit powers your dome , underhood , glovebox , courtesy , cargo , and map lights. It also powers the radio memory circuit and the seat belt timer module . It takes about 30 minutes before the seat belt timer goes to sleep and does not draw any power . After the seat belt timer times out you will not be able to pull the seat belt out of the retractor.
