Lower Control Arm Help

Hello all...I need some advice with my RF Lower Control arm bushing. I just had my 91 CRX Si in for inspection and they said I need a new bushing...they quoted me $126. I can get the bushing and bolt for $25, but I am unsure if I can do it myself. If I lift the front end and take the wheel off, can I simply pull the pivot bolt out and put a jack on the outer end of the arm to move the inner part down far enough to change bushings or is it more complicated than that. Any advice would be helpful but I need to know soon in order to get parts before the 10-day grace period for my inspection runs out. Thanks.

They have to be pressed in, most shops will charge about 10 bucks to press them in, assuming you take the bushings and control arm to them.

So Basically I would have to take the entire control arm off in order to change out the bushings? If so, thanks for the help and I will most likely have the dealer just change out the bushings. I was hoping I could change out the bushing w/out taking the control arm totally off.

Its just two bolts and ball joint I think.

Yeah man, its so simple...If your going to go through all the work of lifting the car and lowering the arm, there are 3 bolts (2 for radius arm and one for strut) and then the ball joint, the whole thing takes me about 5 mins now, Ive had to take off my right suspension 4 times now.

The only bushing I want to replace is the main one on the inside that connects to the frame or crossmember. It is just one bolt, my question is...once I take the bolt out will the arm lower by itself so I can change out bushings or do I have to jack the outside part of the arm to lower the inner part where the bushing is?...kinda hard to explain.

Well niether really, it shouldnt move, unless you disconnect the ball joint or strut..because they will hold it in the same place it lowered itself to, if you jack up the spinle then yes it will lower, but to have the bushing pressed in the whoe thing has got to come out. Or you could try beating it in with a BIG hammer, Ive done that on a 70 chevelle im restoring...a little heat would help as well
