New codes-round 2

Ok, after cleaning my MAF and AIC sensors, I got my car to run pretty well and pass smog. I'm still getting codes: 157,158,185,186. These seem to mostly be related to the MAF. I'm guessing that cleaning it is not enough and there may be a problem with the part. My question is-is this a common part failure and should I just get a used one and try that? Or, should I pay $90 for a refubished one? I am trying to stay on a tight budget and don't want to buy parts unnecessarily.

Thanks,

DJ

In your previous thread you mention you cleaned the MAP sensor. I assume you meant the MAF sensor?

How did you clean it? The codes you list above are:
157 MAF circuit voltage below minimum limit
158 MAF circuit voltage above maximum limit
185 MAF circuit voltage less than expected
186 MAF circuit voltage higher than expected.

These codes would lead me to believe either you did not get the MAF connected securely or the MAF is damaged.

I don't believe the Ford MAF sensors are a common part to fail (unlike similar vintage GM MAF sensors) but others may work on Fords regularly and may disagree. Maybe way2old is monitoring this thread and will have a comment regarding Ford MAF sensor reliability.
