Blown Out Glasspacks

i have done a search on this but found nothing, anyone know a way to blow out these things quick?? someone said something about running water up in there but not sure of the details. let me know

Are they on or off the truck? The glass packs I've been around are the "striaght through" design...if that's the case with your's, and they are off the truck, I think I'd try a torch. I'd suspend them vertical, and use an oxy/acetylene torch to burn them out by putting the torch in the exit pipe at the bottom. Just guessing but you are going to have to leave some vertical seperation between the tip of the torch and the mouth of the exit pipe on the glass packs...or risk extinguishing the torch. The temps will get high, so go carefully...

Have never tried this, but I think this is where I'd start. Likely will be some other posts with better ideas from the sharp crew on this forum.

I don't know this to be totally true, but my old boss used to say that when he was a kid they would pour kerosene though them and that would break down the packing. Again, I don't know if it's trus, but you might try if, and just be careful. MM.

Ive heard this, and it worked for mine one time.

Drive around and let them get hot, I used 1st gear to drive around awhile, then go to a cold water hose, get someone to shoot cold water in them while you hit the casing with a hammer.

I've also done it w/o using the hammer and just used water. It seemed to work good for me both ways.

what the F**K is this??

With the glass packs gone, you essentially end up with a straight pipe as those bottles are already straight flow through. What I don't understand is why bother putting them on in the first place instead of just running a straight pipe.Anyway, no big deal...just look out for 'Johnny Law" though perchance someone registers a noise complaint on your plates.

I cut the truck off and shot the water in until it started coming back out. then let it sit and drove it around really hard.

it might not work that way anymore..
