The Surge is either the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) going bad. The IACV is located on the back side of the intake manifold right near the throttle body, it's not too hard to change. If that's not the problem, bleed your coolant.

Misfires could be your distributor rotator. Change your spark plugs/spark plug wires/distributor rotator/distributor cap.

Are you throwing any codes?

And don't give up man, everyone has these problems with their cars, it's really no big deal, just play around with it some more, and you'll get it. ;)

as far as the misfire also check for exhuast leaks near you manifold as well, and the idle surge i had the same problem and spoke with the dealer and they said the common problem is the fast speed idle valve located under the throttle body it cost about $60 at the dealer. it fixed the idle surge i had. i thought it was the iac as well but it didnt fix the problem, the fast speed idle valve did.
