Just thought id let everyone know about my day. Our local SPL (Sound Pressure Level) Stereo Competition was today.
It was kinda cool to see all the different rides, and systems. And yes, there was a disgustingly huge amount of riced out vehicles there, with huge wings sporting multiple levels, decals and graphics, and the famous "fart cannon" exhausts.
It was going to be my first competition, and I was pretty pumped. I have been working my ass off to get everything into my Sentra, and I did a bit of sound deadining, and it was sounding good. Unfortionatly, I blew a sub on the way to the competition, so my day was over before it started. I was royally pissed, but there was nothing I could do. I couldnt afford to go out and pick up another sub either, since they were $150 for one. I think I will sell the sub that is still good, and save up for a while and get some better ones. Hopefully next yr I will be able to compete.
At that point, I was just going to leave, but I had some friends in the competition too, so I waited there to see there runs. Also, the stereo shop that sponsered the competition had a demo van filled with Directed Audio goodies. It was sporting 16.....thats right 16 12" subs. It was meatred (not today) at 171.3 dB
They had some killer trophies to give out, and some prizes. I didnt stay right till the end, as it was killer hot outside, and I was starting to get a headache from the heat combined with the pounding of tons of bass.
My friends did pretty good. Neither of them won, but they did good considering there systems were built on a pretty tight budget.
My one friend has
Kamelion (sp?) Deck
2 PPI 10" Subs
MTX PRO 50x2 Amp (Bridged)
Stock Speakers
All in a 96 Subaru Impreza Wagon. She hit 135.9 with this setup, and except for the deck, it was probably the cheapest system there, and she did better than some ppl that had way bigger stuff.
My other friend has
Pioneer DEH-P3300 Deck
2 Pioneer Premier 12" subs
Pioneer Premier Mono Amp.
Stock Speakers.
He managed to hit 145.8 dB in his old Ford Bronco II. Not too shabby. There were some ppl that got higher, but they were mostly ppl with sponsers.
All in all a fun day. Depressing that I didnt get to compete, but still fun.
So how was your weekend? :)
