HELP with my starter motor

Ok so I am in need of help with my 1994 c1500. I know this is long but I need some opinions. I recently had problems starting the vehichle, It took several tries and finally quit for good. This seemed to be an obvious bad starter so I replaced it right away. The truck started right up twice with absolutely no problem (and I drove it 20 mi.) After this though I tried to start it and got nothing, not even a click, at the turn of the key. I did however have power so it was not the batery. At this point I took both the new and old starter and had them checked thinking I might have gotten a bad one or maybe that wasnt even the problem. They told me the old one was definitly toast (mechanics actual words) and the new one turned fine when hooked up to the tester. So I put it back and tightened it up reall good (considering the ground connection is made between the starter itself and is mounting place on the motor, we figured there was a bad connection causing the problem. There was a sticker around one of the bolt holes.) Once again the truck started fine after this and i thought the problem was solved. I used the truck for a week with no problems except once having the starter click before turning on the second time. Tonight however when I tried to start it I got a click on the first and I think second time I turned the key but after that nothing. Could it possibly be the connection again? Or is there more possible problems. I am very frustrated and appreciate any feedback.

If you hear a click, the starter is engaging with the flywheel but there is not enough current to turn the engine over.

This could be due to the battery, alternator, a battery cable, or a battery cable connection. The cables can become corroded thus reducing the flow of current thru the cable. A dirty or loose connection (at either end of the cable) can also cause current not to flow.

If you have not already done so, clean the battery connections at the battery and check the other end of each cable for a good clean connection.

With a Volt Meter, check the voltage of the battery. Should be around 12.2 volts. Watch the meter as you try to start the engine. If it drops below 9, the battery is not holding a charge. If it does not move at all, you have a bad connection somewhere (or a bad cable).

I have checked and cleaned the battery. Right now I do not even get a click whenever I turn the key. I do have gauges but nothing from the starter.

charge the battery and try to start it. If it doesn't start have the battery tested. Like 2000CAYukon said it could be a bad battery. Did you try his test with a voltmeter?

I took in my battery and had it tested they said it was bad so I bought a replacement. However, when I put in the replacement I still had nothing a the turn of the key. Any other ideas???

Check your cables at the battery (under the insulation for corrosion). The side terminals on the battery may have leaked down into the cables under the insulation

Try cleaning the cable at the starter with a wire brush. While you are down there get a test light and a buddy to turn the key to the start position of and on to find a wire that is sending 12v to the starter, if you can not find that wire. Then you have an electrical prob.

does it do this always or just when the engine is hot?

Honestly sounds like the cable from your battery to starter is corroded/bad. I had this problem recently with my truck, and I replaced both the positive battery cable to the starter, and the negative to block and chassis cables with 0 gauge wire. I also did the battery to alternator cable with 4 gauge wire... no problems or anything since then and I also seem to have better current.
