Sup guys
Im a member of the Dsm part of this forum and I have a question to ask for a friend.
We just finished his TT conversion on his 95 stealth ,and its an auto.
the problem is we got the trans up and in, but havent been able to drive it yet.
The trans wont go into any forward gears. It has a good amount of fluid and is bolted on right. It seems like everything is connected right but we dont know what the problem is.
Any help would be great.
Cruz

Hotshot will know this for sure. There is a piece that needs ground off to make it work correctly with the ATX tranny. Its been so long since I read about it that I dont recall exactly.

ground off? Oh wait a sec? Did you swap in a VR-4 motor into the ATX? If thats the case, i'm not sure about what has to be ground off. I'm using a rebuilt N/A block, so I dont have the experience on how to exactly match a VR-4 engine to an auto tranny. Someone on 3SI might know that one. Installing the tranny on an N/A block is a piece of cake so as long as you can get it back up into the engine bay.

I think you miss understood / he didnt say it right. He is talking about electrical.

I believe the question is how did you get your TCU to work with the TT ECU.

Well, see this is the problem I'm having. I dont have all the information of what is done to his car. That is another question that comes into mind as to whether he's using the TT ECU or the N/A ECU. But even if it is electrical, the car should still be able to move forward. The electrical part just controls the gears, everything else is mechanical. I know this because i did away with my TCU cause i'm using the manual controller i bought from IPT. There should only be two wiring harnesses that connect to the tranny, one is for the speedometer, the other one has 4 wires. I unplugged that one, and my car was still able to move forward, however, i did not drive like that, and you could tell that the tranny did not like it one bit. But the main thing is that it still moved forward.

But there are other reasons to have all the information. For example, if he's having trouble just moving shifter inside into drive, then the explanation for that would be that the blow off valve is in the way of the shift linkage connection, assuming you have a closed blow off valve.

yea, its a tt conversion on a N/A block. He's using a open bov so im dont think thats the problem. Although theres always that chance.
Well it looks like we are going to have to clear out the engine bay and see if we can find the problem or not.
This will be taking place this weekend so Ill try to keep you all updated on this as soon as I find somthing.
Thanks for all your guys help.

No I was actually talking about using a TT engine with a ATX. There is something that needs done to make it able to bolt up.

And you are saying it wont go into forward gears. Do you mean you put the shifter into drive and it goes no where or you cant physically move the shifter into drive? I have seen stuff get in the way of the shifter mechanism myself that would knock it out of gear.

thats exactly what i think it is, unless you actually opened up the tranny period, it can't be valve body related.

Plus i was about to say, the only thing grounding period thats tranny related is grounding the battery to the tranny, you don't ground the tranny to anything.

No no you are misunderstanding. I beleive there is a piece on a TT crank that has to be ground down (ie with a grinder) if you want to be able to use it with a ATX tranny.

i knew what you were saying, as i stated in my first post, i was just saying that it couldn't be an electrical grounding period lol
