I am looking at reseting my CPU. Does anyone know how to do that or know any draw backs from doing it? I have a 2000 Z71 Silverado. Thanks for any input.

Why do you want to reset the PCM? What problems are you having? What do you expect to gain from the reset?

I assume he means to clear any OBD (Service Engine) codes. This will have to be done with a scan tool.

I am refering to reflashing the CPU. The CPU's now days learn to adjust to your driving style. I want to reflash it back to standard driving style so that I can gain my MPG back again. I have several long trips ahead of me and need every edge.

Thanks

You'll have to take it to a GM dealer who has the equipment. You'll also get all the updates when they do that.

If you are talking about what the PCM has "Learned" you just need to unplug the battery for 20 minutes. The "Learning Process" will take about 200-500 miles to "Relearn" the trim levels and other items.

If you talking about the program that hard program never changes.
