FALSE. its a good mod. the only downside is that if you have a big sound system you might go thru batteries because it will make your alternator not charge your battery as fast. otherwise its completely safe.

your friend has no idea how an engine works if he thinks that an underdrive pulley takes power from your battery and alternator and gives it to your engine.

but yeah, like he said, I have a full pulley set on my car and my alternator only charges like 13volts on idle, and the headlights would dim too, but that was fixed by grounding my alternator better.

but what you need to look out for is that your temp might go up because it also turns the water pump less, which might cause your car to overheat. But that just mainly happens on cars that have a small cooling system, but the 240 has a little bit more than it needs stock, so I really dont notice any problems and I'm running a single cam radiator in my car.

Doesn't the KA technically have a Harmonic Dampner. Which means that the potential for greater engine wear is there, because the crank was designed to have a Dampner on the end of it to not only reduce vibration, but balance the entire rotating assembly.
Solid piece Crank Pulleys are believed to be damaging to motors.
But, honestly, in an inexpensive and easy to rebuild motor like the KA, it's not that big of a deal.

And yes, HP is freed from accessories, to be used by your wheels.
If you want some more easy engine response and HP, get some electric fans off of an Altima at a Junkyard and dump your stock clutch fan. This is little stuff, but cheap and easy.

Yup there are no dampeners or harmonic balancers for the KA24E or the DE. There is an extra slab of metal on the back of the ka24e and de engines that are suppose to dampen any type of extreme turbulance.
If you get an after market pully kit you should be fine. KA's are low rev engines that don't need any type of sufficient dampening.

Cool, that's good to know.
