It's my experience that if you want a turbo car you don't start with a naturally aspirated motor. Just buy a GTP?

If You Are Going To Turbo A Gt, Such As I Have, You Better Have Money Set Aside For A New Tranny. The Tranny In The Gtp Is Much Stronger And Will Last Longer With The Huge Demands A Turbo Will Put On It. Honestly, I Love My Gt, But I Will Admit That The Gtp Is More Mod-friendly. You Can Do Other Horsepower Mods To Your Gt Such As Headers, U Bend Delete, Abd High Flow Cat And Exhaust.

I dont plan on beating my car that bad, plus I got a GT because it only cost me 5000 for loaded 98, with only 76k on it. Cant complain about that... I also only want to add a little bit of power..:evillol:. I want my car to look the same but be able to perfom like a gtp but be more of a "sleeper" so I can eat a pony here and there.. Its my daily driver and just want to add some pep to its step.

you will still have to put your foot into it to beat a stang, even with the turbo. it puts a lot more pressure on your trans fluid, and it will wear down over time

It's a pipe dream in my opinion. I've been there... If you want more power buy a car that will meet your requirements. Otherwise you will just be dissapointed and broke.

The stock tranny in the GT cant even handle stock power for an extended amount of time. You have to let off a bit during shifting to make it last......you put a turbo on it....and it will go bye bye and quick. I agree with the above comments on just doing the exhaust...and cold air intake. The intake air can make a huge differance as the GT pulls air that is 8-10 degrees hotter than the outside temp into the intake....and thats on the highway. In town???? You dont even want to know how hot the air is......but I will tell ya.....75 degrees outside will yield over 100 degrees going into the intake....and it kills the cars peformance.

If you got 3k to put in it and want the most bang for you buck...then go for it. I did and I regret not doing it sooner. As far as trans fluid... The trans in mine could use an extra cooler other than the potion of radiator for sure. I also have the Trans shift contoller added to mine which works great with changing the shift points and adding HIGHER line pressure to the clutch packs as to reduce the wear caused by the once slipping trans. Shifts harder and you can manually contol it with a screwdriver...literally took 2 minutes to install. Can hauls ass now and have had it bolted on since October trouble free. I recently took it from SC to NH and back...89 octane doesn't hurt it and the gas milage only decreases by the amount your foot is in the pedal...which in my case is every single day. Otherwise the gas milage only drop by 1 to 2 MPG on average. I have taken out a few Camaro LT1's with mods (Supervisors car for 1) and many Mustangs. I have also put it up against other GTP's, (while actually not trying to race them)....something about them trying to punk me but instead the reverse happening by a GT which makes me grin all so childishly. The whole install took me and a friend a good day and had only the problems of a cramped engine compartment.

Also check out the stainless exhaust from GM performance...Bigger piping and sounds deep but not too loud. I hate them high pitched sounding exhausts! Then again if you get the turbo then you won't be hearing the exhaust too much as it gets quieter! All you'll hear is the whistle of the turbo when you get on it.
