From what I gather reading the forum is that the T/A driver sold the Civic back to the guy for $300. To cover the cost of his tranny rebuild.

The TA was simply badass though and the driver knew what he was doing. Looked like the Civic sorta bogged the launch on last race, but slicks saved him...

Guy who won the civic, dyno'd it the next day and it put down 520whp... then sold it back to the kid for $300.

why put that much power to the ground if you can't ever hook up? saying you drive a 600 hp civic is cool to brag about but not if it all it can do is spin tires. all that power and the kid didn't even use a tranny with a lsd? nice one wheel burnouts, we're all real impressed.

Red, nice find. I actually was watching this the other day, and had to leave halfway through to give my brother a ride to work. Needless to say, I had better races on teh way, but I still wanted to see how it ended.

I read the thread on Camaro SS. The trans am driver did not say that it was $300. He said it was less than what the car was worth, and more than enough to cover his tranny rebuild (obviously more than $300). The civic kid claimed it was $300, and the trans am guy said if that makes him happy, then let him say it.

Interesting going through the Honda-Tech thread. And how could you not agree with them all. Kid should have used his slicks right off. I bet it was his brothers car. So...he talked it up, didn't know shit, and lost his car. At the end of the show, you don't see him running up to the guy saying, "Please sell that car back!! that civic is fast when the guy who won it drove it. he said he got the car to run low 10's. the kid originally wanted to hire a pro to race but the show's rules are you drive what your own car. so that kid got thurougly owned.

also when he inspected te car when it was on the trailer, the boost line was places very close to hood latch. those idiots crushed their own vacuum line that goes to the wastegate.

Nah, the rules state, that you can opt to have a pro race driver race your car for you. But the other driver has to agree to it.

When the two teams met up, the civic guy saw that the trans am guy had two pro racers suited up and ready to go. The civic dude freaked and said "owners drive the cars!". Which is what the trans am owner wanted, cause he's a good driver himself.

thanks guys i appreciate it the truth comes out the show was suppose to give us a race with a high 10 low 11 sec car it was a setup from the begining i know i cant drive the best it was my first time driving the car, but if yhou think we are stupid ricers than that is fine whatever what car did you have on the show i did it to have fun we raced for 300 dollars i got my car back and it was over we put on a good show. For the record the same setup is in my hatch on 17psi on pump gas with my nondriving ass went a 11.3 @ 127 on my second pass. So keep talking shit atleast my car made it all 5 passes without braking.

but that TA was a beast, on his website its says hes looking to break into 8's with it next year, the timing was retarded for the show

According to the thread that Banditkiller put up, the T/A driver dynoed the Civic to 540whp. The car doesn't sound weak to me, it just raced alot faster car.

But that was a link to the Honda forum and I find anything on there hard to believe. Also 540 hp still isn't 600 hp.

540whp is alot more then 600 flywheel horsepower. He can safely claim that he has 600 horsepower. I'd assume that he was experiencing 15% parasitic loss to the wheels, so that would put him at 616 horsepower (I'm doing this off the top of my head).

But this goes back to my point that nobody enter a car into a race based on what they think they might be making at the flywheel. You based your HP rating on WHP because it’s the only way to know how much power your car is actually putting to the ground which is the only thing that matters when your racing.

530whp still works out to close to 600hp flywheel. 583hp if you add 10%. 593hp if you add 12%, 609hp with 15%.

Still a potent Civic either way you look at it. Just not potent enough on race day. Plain and simple.
